I have an s-video wire that is running from my video card to my tv...not sure what to do (all inputs didn't show my monitor)

Sorry dumb quick question but one of those dumb quick answers is what I seek

+rep to anyone who can help :-D

Video driver will have a monitors tab, probably, where you enable the S-video monitor, or a button that looks like a power switch to "turn on" the S-video output.

My laptop has a function key to cycle internal, external, or both displays.

i am currently typing with my tv as my computer monitor, thanks a bunch guys~! :)

What version of Windows are you using? If you don't have it you should get an OEM Windows XP Media Center 2005 from www.newegg.com. Because being able to easily browse your pics, videos, music and even online radio (live365.com) is quite awsome--as the following pic will show you.

Pic of my temportary media center (building the cabinet and saving up for LCD HDTV). I'm running a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround system along with that 24" flat analog TV. At least it has component video for my PS2/XBOX/PSP.

:yuck: Cell phone camera.

Eh, Media Center is over rated a great deal. Especially if you rarely have things in the codec WMP natively supports.

Its much like iTunes - simple but extremely limited in what it can handle.

I'm going to dredge up this thread...

I've got an S-Video cable, and am wanting to use my TV as a display for movies, etc. It has an S-Video in port, and the computer has S-Video out.

Here's the thing...
With the cable connected, I get no display on the TV. It's been switched to the correct S-Video input. The laptop's got a CRT/LCD toggle button on the keyboard, but it doesn't do a thing. I've tried looking through the display properties, and it doesn't detect anything on the end of the S-Video cable.

I'm kinda stumped... most issues I've read about seem to be simple stuff like the toggle button, inputs to the TV, etc. And it all appears to be related to XP.

It's an ATI integrated graphics card, and I'm running 32-bit Vista.

Help would be appreciated!

I can't tell you where it is off the top of my head in Vista, but in XP it's in Display Properties, then the Settings tab, then the Advanced button. Somewhere in there you'll probably find a card-specific tab for enabling those optional connections, setting whether it's a copy of the internal or an extended desktop, stuff like that.

The card driver may provide a System Tray utility, or a utility that runs as an application in the Programs menu off the Start Button.

I always wanted to do this with my CRT (I have an s-video out on my graphics card and an input on my TV)... but im scared that I could either end up burning the image into the screen or blow the TV bulb by not selecting the right Hz or something :ill:.

A-Ha! System tray is key. The driver will let me clone or extend my desktop (although it changes my resolution when doing so... but that can be easily reverted when I'm done my movie/etc).

Thankyouverymuch.
