Hi there, as I'm sure some of you are aware The Offspring have announced two shows in the UK this year. I really want to go to one but as I'm only 15, there are a few problems. My original plan was for myself and my friend to go the concert on the 5th of June via the train, see the show and then catch the train back to Ramsgate. However, my mum dislikes the idea of us travelling back to Ramsgate at 23.00, which is understandable I guess but as all the people who would normally be available are working, I have no choice but to go without an adult. My friend's dad does live in London and is willing to pick us up but again my mother is worried as she's never met him. So what other options are there? What more can I do? I really want to see The Offspring live. All suggestions are welcome.

I say don't let your mum boss you around on things like this. I did and I regret it. My mum would worry if I got on the tube before I did it.
Anyway this guy is he an ok guy? Its only like getting into a taxi the taxi driver could be a rapest but you trust them because evidence says you should, I don't see the difference.
23.00 train I don't see a problem either unless your mum has to pick you up and would usually go to bed before then.
Why do you have to go with an adult? Your 15 surely you can take care of yourself for a few hours.

But no matter what. GO TO THE CONCERT.

Go with your friend and his father. Your mom will forgive you. Don't miss the freakin' Offspring.

Just tell your mum that your friend's dad is pretty fly for a white guy and you're gonna go far, kid 👍

But seriously Tom mate, don't miss an Offspring concert. Get yourself there by any means necessary, even if it means getting a taxi all the way to London. Not exactly cost effective mind.

TBH travelling late isn't as dangerous as most mums think it is. Tell her I've travelled late a few times on the bus and I've never had any trouble. And buses are much worse than trains...

I'm on my last resort with my uncle now, seeing if he's free for the 5th, if not then I'll just have to try and go with my friend. I am not missing this concert, even if it kills me, problem is there's a 2000 person capacity and tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9am. Damn it. :grumpy:

Well why is your mum worying so much?

Trains are safe. You know your friend so their dad should be fine and why must you go with someone older than you?

Mums these days.

Go, find any way possible. I went to london last year with mates and ended up staying there until nearly midnight (matt decided that we should go watch a play.) Even catching a bus and train back at that time is fine. It will be pretty busy where you are going anyway so getting mugged or beated up is unlikely.

In a group it is even less likely.

Are you serious? Taking your mum to a concert = disaster.

Taking my mum to london = disaster

If I remember his family came to the USA a while back so I don't see a problem with Mum going( different seats). I took my daughter to a Jimmy Buffett concert years ago, but she was only about 13/14 at the time. We both enjoyed it she still talks about it sometimes.

Had a brainwave, why not take the band up there? The bassist can't make it, so it'll be me, the rhythm guitarist, the drummer and the singer. I've just mentioned it to my mum and she still said no! What more must I do? :banghead:

Any reason given as to why she keeps saying no? Selfishness (my mum does that a lot because she can) or is it worry. If its the latter then ask why and I might give you tips from there.

Worry presumably.

Worry presumably.

Ask why she is worrying.

If its the tube then mention all the people around. If it's the your on your own bit then the cctv on all trains covers that. Crime on train is going down as the whole train has cctv that can be responded to quickly. I mean when I got to see my dad (Salisbury) or my sister (surrey) I leave my bag on a shelf on the end of the carrage. Not once been nicked even late at night.
