I'm assuming there's a reason why some cones fly and some put you off the track. I'm also assuming there's a way to tell the difference that I haven't noticed yet because, I dunno, let's say that there was a thing in the game that randomly ejects you off the track because someone else has run off line and hit it and it's come to rest on the racing line where you can't miss it. I mean, that would be some stupid ******** right? No-one would do that.

Oh, wait....

It's how you hit them and how high your ride height is. If you hit it with your tire they fly, if you drive directly over it and are too close to the ground, you fly.

You can turn them off at any time. It's just annoying that you have to accept changes not just back out of the menu after unchecking the box

I don’t understand why they gave the cones collision given how absolutely terrible the collision physics are in GT Sport.

But you can just avoid them, they are bright orange after all

I was racing with the cones until I jumped on one (laying in the middle of the track) when I was in top 3 and screwed my race in the Sport mode.
After that, I don't use them anymore.
It works in FIA events as well.

They're a pet hate of mine too but I can't resist sweeping the track of stray cones to try and get air off them.

Here's a question. If you're the only person running with cones turned on (I do) and they get knocked into the track, do other drivers think you're nuts when you go around what they can't see?

The cones on Tokyo expressway are fun, the big yellow ones in T1. Come around the blind corner only to find them scattered around the exit on lap 2. Those slow you down a lot.

The cones disappear in your replays. I have a video of an R32 daily race on dragon trail where my car decides it wants to fly for no reason.....

Looked a bit like free willy, but I didn't land on any children.....

i gotta agree, but what i REALLY dont get is why they are collisionally activated by other players who cant see them!!! Ok I get it, PD wanted to add the element of realism, but then why are the cones not a roadblock for the other cars as well?

Its annoying to have accidentally left them on in a race where i qualify mid pack to just go around a track on lap 1 after all the cones have already been scattered before i get there just to now have a 10 lap race where im dodging these things all race and no one else has to. Just odd...

and i do "just turn them off" now

You can use the outlap in FIA races to push them all away (or at least the risky ones).

It's always hilarious to see someone get launched into the air.... until it's you :(

The killer cones thing was discussed in a thread here I think it was GTS day 3, and I have them turned off since then.

I'm really looking forward now to meet you in a race someday  ... I'll have an eye on you and keep that extra bit of a distance 👍.

I'm gonna be loud and proud of this assist, because I've found they help a lot on just a few tracks, especially T1 at Suzuka and quite a few braking points as well which just helps maintain flow and consistency so that you have as much time as possible to prepare for every corner after heavy braking.

The graphics, or my TV just aren't quite up to scratch with bumper view, so maybe these allowances can be made, plus on a real track that has been rubbered in, the braking points are roughly in the rubbered zones anyway and GTS doesn't have this.....yet.

Right. So I hit a cone earlier that I hadn't knocked over. So was it knocked over by someone who couldn't see it, or someone who could and if you can't see it does that mean you can't hit it but the car behind you that can see can?

My guess is ... yes !!!

I personally haven’t and Sport races aren’t too bad. I just make an effort to avoid them if I can without loosing time

right??? its dumb isnt it?

The other cars cannot see them nor can they get disrupted by them.... but they can knock them over and into your way!?!
