Don't know if this is the right place, if not please accept my apology's and move to the right thread.
Been battling away now with Mission 11 for best part of a week. Must have tried 2000 times. Confidence low. So have decided to walk away from it for a while.
Need a confidence boost and to gain some A points. SO, open for advice,
don't want anything thats a walk over as such, but would like to make a confidence boost. So, its over to you pro's that I turn to see if you can come up with something that may help.
Thanks for your time.:nervous:

I had great difficulty in this mission(New York Toyota 2000 '67?), at first. So i went on with the others(and had some problems with a couple of them as well). Eventually, after alot of races and arcading(?), I found that what had helped me the most was rallying. You see, I also had allot of trouble with the hard rally's and I started practising with the Peugeot 205 turbo 16 (road car). This made me alot better, not only at the rally's (especialy at Chamonix), but also mission 11. So, my advice. Get a slow road rally car, preferebly the Pug 205, go to arcade and start practising. Good Luck!!

If you're struggling with a mission in New York, it would seem sensible to drive at that track.
How about the New York endurance race?
Try the M3 CSL on S1 tires, it will give you 200 points, it's not too hard and it's a comfortable, easy to handle drive, allowing you to focus on learning the details of the track.

Though, on second thought, I think those two races are in opposite directions..👎

If you go with the rallies like Dengar suggests, a Mazda MX-5 '04 (vs. the 91 Celica) for the easy races, or the RX-7 spirit '02 for the hard races provides a decent challenge, and gives 200 points.

But I think you'd be better off either driving in New York, or doing one of the classics-races to gain experience handling those sort of cars.

I'd leave it for a few weeks. I did this for some of the hard special condition races (Grand Canyon and Charmonix). I came back to them over a month later and managed to win them both after a few goes.

You've probably just got stuck in a bad rhythm by now and a lengthy break from it may help.

When I was running through the missions I got hung up on mission 11 for a while.

Its all about running a clean line each lap. It took me a few tries to find the tracks rhythm and to learn the cars quirks.

Best think that you can do is buy the car, and take it to New York for some practice time.

Drop the aids aside from a few clicks on the TCS, and jump right out.

When you get board with that, run the car in a couple events.

The more that you learn about the track and car, the better off you will be.

Popeye, I can understand your pain! Mission 11 was the one that got me stumped the most as well, in comparison I scooted through Mission 34 in my 4th attempt! :boggled: As I can see you have done it many, many times, hearing the same advice to keep your lines smooth and don't steer while braking won't help you, but taking a break, maybe having a laugh trying to gold some of the licenses or trying some fun 200 A-Spec point races will. Do that for a week or so, then come back to it, you may find your driving skill will have increased, and it will be easier for you to complete. Don't worry, I thought I would never complete it, and in the end, through a lot of perseverance, I did it, along with the other 33. I'm sure the same will happen to you, and in a couple of weeks time, you'll be as happy as a pig in muck. ;) I wish you good luck! 👍

I have to admit to b spec most the races due to wirk commitments so I was looking for a race in A spec. Damned if I am going to wipe it out now. Its at 39.4% and I am going to get this done. Even if I am trying when GT6 is in the bargain bucket :). So I'll just have to go back and start with the races and start a speccing them even if I have to leave my PS3 on for weeks.

That's your prob, dude. GT4 requires more commitment than that. If Bob is doing most of your driving, no wonder you're having problems with M11. To perform the missions, you have to be skilled at driving many different types of cars...some with TCS on, some with TCS off.

Have you tried license tests yet? That's another thing you can attempt: many license tests feature cars that have TCS or ASM ON, and you have to figure out how to do the test while driving with all this crap on.

Perhaps that's why I found Mission 11 (and many others) to be not so hard...I was already used to driving with limitations I wouldn't normally put on my own cars. 💡

Hee hee! Well at least you've got the drive! :) You'll get it, dude.

Got it. Beat it the other day by .622 :)
How you doing with 34?

Haven't tried M34 in a couple days now...but I'll eventually get it. Sometimes it helps to take a break, although this is the longest it's ever taken me to finish a mission. :indiff:

Well, good luck when you go back to it. Hell, just thought about it, I got it to come.:(

Ah but Popeye, your PAL version of GT4 will be much kinder to you. ;) Well done at completing Mission 11, sounds like it was a real thorn in your side. If you've done that, there is no reason to why you can't easily do Mission 34. Like I said, I always found No. 11 tougher than No. 34, so you should be fine. Just perservere like you did with this one and you'll be completed in no time at all. :dopey:

Thank you. I went back and am starting to mass the a points. I have now got them higher than the b specs, so I am progressing. Half way through the missions. I pick one and stick at it until I crack it. doesn't matter how long it takes, I stick at it until I get it. Then I will go to Smallhorses thread and do the 200 point stock races, and I'll stick at them until I get them. Seems like Parnelli is having a hard time. Guess I will but like him, I'll stick at it until I get it. But probably leave it until I got at least 50%.
