I just wanted to say congrats to everyone who competed in GT Academy (the shenanigan free group) and the finalists.

Honestly, I'm glad it's over - I knew by the times mid-week, I think 40th at best overall at some point, I just didn't have it in me; nor the time to try this week. I coulda made it close on Indy, but Effel just couldn't get a good time...... so it is a relief to be able to just get back to playin GT for fun again - not lap after nerve-wrecking lap to be PERFECT (which I never could put together)

As someone who has played every GT to completion and thought I was pretty good.... wow - those times at the top were blazing fast.

Good luck in the finals and remember what's at stake here - personally, I'd still give a kidney to have the opportunity you all are getting. Can't wait to watch it all happen.

Oh, and curse those ghost laps for showing me if I could be perfect on a lap I'd be in....... but man, I was far from perfect on any one of my 'submitted' laps. When I'd get ahead I'd get so darn excited/nervous I'd blow the lap...... oh well, 1 fast lap wasn't going to be good enough in the finals anyway.

Good luck, drive fast!

Its been a crazy and long week.

This video kind of reminded me of the endless laps I seemed to do. Fun but glad its over. Cheers everyone!

and you were one that made it! Congrats.

Out of curiosity - care to share how much time you put in the last week? That goes for anyone, be honest - it doesn't matter now; you made it or didn't....

1st round - a bunch (since we had 4 weeks) at least 8-10hours of grinding.

2nd round - same probably about 8 hours before they cancelled it.

3rd round - not as much time unfortunetly but don't think it mattered - 4 hours

Honestly, I wish I had more time - but after real-life, job, billz, wife, ect. at the end of the day I just didn't have the time. But I still believe it wouldn't matter - on day-1 times were posted in rd 3 that I still hadn't touched by the end. Those guys on day-1 didn't have hours to practice either :)

No excuses - I lost because I was slower than you ;) Nice driving

About 6 hours on Indy and a gazillion on Eifel.

I had about half a second more I could have taken off Indy, but knew it wouldn't matter with Eifel kicking my @$$ the way it was.

Honestly, probably 30+ hours. I was lucky it wasn't a busy week as far as homework is concerned, or I would never have made it. I didn't get a whole lot of time until later in the week, then played after class Friday, all of Saturday, and a good bit of Sunday. I got a lap at Eifel Saturday night that moved me to a 57.3, so I didn't have to do much Sunday.

Edit: And that's why I probably won't do too well in Orlando. Many of the other people going seem to get up to speed faster - they're the drivers that will go to Silverstone, and rightfully so.

You never know - now you've got a lot of other factors for you also. The pressure of the event - I'd bet many of those ice-cold in there living rooms are going to go to pieces at the live event with the added pressure.

I wouldn't say the hard part is over - but if your strong point required quiet, pressure free driving on an empty track, you'd better be prepared for the different in the final.
