After spending hours “googling” this topic, it made sense for me to ask here!

I am currently raising the funds to buy a PS3 complete with GT5 Prologue. However, our internet comes through an USB modem, so I cannot connect it to the internet wirelessly. My dad will NEVER go wireless or use a wired router, so my only option is to run a cable from the back of my computer and share the internet from it.

From this, I had a brainwave, I could use my computer monitor as a screen! This would then save me the hassle of running a cable from the back of my computer all the way downstairs to the television (Computers = upstairs, TV = downstairs).

However, this then throws its own problems.

I have the following monitor (HP W1907v), which only has a VGA input.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any cheap solution for me to be able to view my ps3 through this monitor.

I have seen the following adapter on ebay, but feel that the low price may mean low quality.

Another solution is this item, which would able me to just leave both my monitor and ps3 plugged in at the same time.

Any advice or solutions for this problem would be greatly appreciated, especially from people who have overcome this problem themselves! :D

Thanks,

I play PS3 and X360 on the same computer monitor. But my monitor supports DVI as well as VGA. Unfortunately, PS3 doesn't have native support for VGA, whereas X360 owners can get a cable and not use any adapters or anything.

I connect my PS3 using an HDMI > DVI cable, and the X360 with the specific X360 VGA cable. I've heard mixed reviews regarding VGA boxes, but having never used one I couldn't really help you there.

Thanks for all the information and advised products!

Out of interest, does anyone recommend a decent lcd monitor with hdmi inputs? I've been thinking, and it just might be easier for me to buy a new monitor with a hdmi input, so it saves me the hassle of vga boxes etc...
Besides, with an lcd monitor I can watch tv in my room and play gt5: prologue in hd!

I have seen this Samsung on amazon =>

Good, bad, cheap, expensive???

Thanks for all the help so far, you're all way better than google :D

Thanks,
