Hello,

I'm having an issue that seems solely with my mac but I cannot work out for the life of me what the issue is. Most websites won't open, with the odd exception of Facebook, Twitter and a rare few others (only found one other so far) google chrome comes up with a 'no data received' error with a tag line under it of ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE. Google works in the sense I can browse, but I cannot click onto the links and it work. It isn't a chrome isolated issue because Safari doesn't work at all and I cannot download Firefox to try with because I get the error come up. I have scanned for malware and got no results. I have tried using Ethernet instead if wireless to the same effect, I have also tried disabling my firewall to the same outcome. I have even tried changing user on the mac to see if that worked and that didn't.

Suggestions because I'm out if ideas!

Thanks In advance

Edit- if on twitter per say someone posts a YouTube video, I can watch it on the thumbnail fine. But not if I click onto the link and on YouTube. How odd!

I've heard of this issue before but not in a couple years. Which version of Chrome are you using?

Maybe try deleting all browser data (history, cookies, cache etc.) from the beginning of time then relaunching. From a bit of Googling I saw someone uninstalled Chrome while checking the option "Also delete your browsing data" then reinstalled to fix it.

Good news team, fixed it.

Of all the things I thought it would be, having tried every complex thing under the sun. My anti virus was playing up and blocking nearly all websites, it just failed to tell me so. Damn Sophos.

Thank you all for your suggestions though its appreciated!
