Right so I've done a forum search and it looks like a lot of people have reported similar freezing issues. Most have been on the 'silver GT' loading screen. My freezes occur before the screen and in seemingly random places:
*Trying to access IC-4 license test: be it from Next via IC-3 or just outright selecting it in the menu.
*Festival Italia second race, similarly from above.
*Tuning shop when selecting parts. This seemed to resolve itself after a couple of data reinstalls.
There could be more but I've been very cautious about where to go in this game and where it may freeze. In all instances, the disc is not read and the HDD light is not on.
I have literally deleted and then reinstalled the Install data at least 7 times. I've used File System Restore twice, a Quick Format, a Full Format (good lord that took 7 hours), installed the 1.05 patch after installing the data (rather than vice versa), disabled the internet while playing, not using custom music and so on. I'm using a one-year-old PS3 slim 120 GB model and my GT5 disc was acquired three days ago with the disc in pristine condition. The freezing persists and seems to find new areas to lock up on.
Dude, what's going on here? Is there absolutely any way to fix this? Is there a potential patch in the works to fix this? This is ridiculous man, I really want to play the hell out of this game!
