Thanks for clarifying that Omnius, just didnt want to see anyone loosing points for "mysterious extra gears" as was pointed out by Warrius in his blog.
On a different note I would like to say thanks to jamesybograt for his help tonight in practice for Wednesdays Zero Cup. Every week we all come here and to the Zero cup and race each other. I know I am nowhere near as fast as the regular winners at the moment, but when someone takes the time to share their setups and help you, it gives it a good community feel.

HEAR, HEAR! 👍

still room for 1 more???

ABSOLUTLEY!!!!

Nice to see you finally back Rich!!!! 👍 👍 👍

Checkout the first page for all the rules for Friday (if you haven't already!)

Good to see you found your way onto my thread - guess it works having the details on my GT5 Message Board :)

Can I, if I may, ask what other guys are posting around Eiger?

Either Im stupidly slow or Im STUPIDLY SLOW....

A benchmark would be nice to work from......

PS: Welcome back rbl007....

Count me in for tomorrow night as well. Just haven't decided which of the old firm I'm going with.....lol! I quit work tomorrow morning at 730am so will have all day to set my cars up & hopefully an hour or 2 for some kip. Have an intense love for the Subaru but I think the Evo would be a better handling car. Has the initial 6 places all been filled yet?

Guys, after enquiring from you all about your wheel setups, I would now like to share you my own current setup. The girlfriend proceeded to order me a Wheelstand Pro Deluxe and I woke up to it the other day with no idea she had even bought it. Took me a while to get it put together properly, but the end result is brill. When I got the G27 I had initially wanted to reverse-mount the pedals but I managed a much easier modification that you can maybe pick up from the image. The bottom drawer of the locker has been removed and the base of the stand lifted up and set in to the locker  It still isn't technically reverse-mount but it gives the pedals a better angle. Have a very good office chair out of IKEA as well that isnt in shot but it keeps rolling back when I stomp on the pedals  so I need a solution for that. It could be as lo-tech as a couple of bricks like the girlfriend suggested!

You might also be able to pick up the centre speaker, subwoofer and a satellite speaker from the 5.1 system - that needs to go. I have it wired PS3 to TV via HDMI, then red & white phono output from TV into SCART socket of DVD player/surround sound control centre, and then the sound is sent to various speakers. Not ideal. Want to use the optical output on PS3 - wondering do any of you guys know anything about it or using an optical sound setup yourselves. Was speaking to a guy in work about it - he has a Sony TV and his surround sound is also Sony, but he is able to control everything off his TV remote thru some Bravia link that Sony uses. Have noticed myself that my Panasonic TV has a Viera link function on the remote so maybe Panasonic is the way to go.

Just had a rip round Eiger there - managed a 1:12. Normal enough, but I was faster with the clutch and shifter than I was with the paddles... I was convinced super-fast gear changes would be the key to a fast lap, but not so. Also, the rewards of using a shifter are amaze. And the split-second raise in revs if you get the accelerator down before you've got the clutch fully out - beautiful sound :)

Nice looking setup there, for the office seat rolling back could you not just pull the wheels off it?

I use optical for my PS3 via the Creative Labs DDTS100 decoder connected to a set of 7.1 Creative Labs TD7700 speakers (both are discontinued now though) they were from my PC gaming days, but also worked a treat for my PS2 optical needs back in the day, so now they service my PS3's needs. :)

Even though you only get 5.1 from optical (6.1 from DVD's / BD's using DTS or DD EX) As far as surround sound goes, it works a treat as I have my L&R Side speakers set just behind me at a wide position and the Centre Rear L&R speakers directly behind, which work as a 'single' speaker in 6.1

The PC used to pump out 7.1 direct, but you can only get that via HDMI on the PS3, but I can 'simulate' 7.1 when playing music by using the DTS NEO setting on my decoder.

I've noticed that since moving to a clutch system! And now you know why I chose that car/setup...it was for the 'new' sound that you get as opposed to the SFX of paddle shifting 👍

Nice set up Roger. with regards to the sound set up, my rig has got 2 X 2.1 subs and speakers. One up front, and one at the rear (sub mounted under seat). These are connected directly to my PS3 via the non hdmi output at the back, and connected to the subs using the red and white optical connections. It isnt 5.1, its 4.2 and I can control the balance of sound front to rear with a switch. One of the subs is an old PS2 soundstation, and the other is a logitech pc set up and when its turned up you can feel the engine noise vibrate the whole rig and the kurbs rumble through the side speakers. Unfortunately though I have to use headphones most of the time as my set up is in the living room next to the main TV.

Literally just tried that 20mins ago. Thought I was on to a good thing, and so simply as well, but there's a column up thru the middle of the chair and when the castors are off, it sits lower than the legs - so I'm wobbling about all over the shop. So locking castors would be the job - googled them and ebay'd them but nothing really to do what I need. They're mostly all industrial use wheels. Possibly heading to Belfast tomorrow to see about a flashgun for my DSLR so could call over at the IKEA and see do they have anything in the form of locking castors.

Not shooting down your setup, but I would go for a much lower sitting position...

Can only go so low coz the office chair is quite......not bulky, but I have it as low as she goes with the legs and column and whatnot. I could have got her lower if the castor plan earlier had worked. But the chair reclines quite a large amount as well - it's not a horizontal driving position but it feels low-slung. I mounted the shifter plate on the wheelstand upside-down as well, so any lower and it would get in the way of my leg. Would actually even consider it higher so the top of the wheel strays into my line of sight with the TV and overlaps with the wheel on the screen...

On another note, the Northumbria track - which has bizarrely went from green and grassy to a barren desert in one of the rainiest weeks of the year... - is not one for the clutch/shifter for me. Everything happening very quickly with my left hand and foot darting about all over the place

Just a suggestion, but my mate uses one of those fold up camping chairs for his set up. You know the ones with arms and a cup holder. Only cost about a fiver. I thought no way when he told me, but after having a go I found it was just the right height, and very stable. Plus you can fold it away when not in use.

This made me LOL. I can fully understand and appreciate the functionality of it - the bizarreness of a folding camp chair in the bedroom just brought a smile to my face :)

You forgot another major plus and selling point - cup holder for holding the Thermos full of Nescafé while you race. Couldn't be beat.

Gutted, internet connection booted me in 2nd race on lap 11 when I was on for a third place,(second one of the evening) couldnt get back on for third race.
Great racing while I was on though, probably my best performances so far so am well gutted.

No I was there for the whole of the 1st race, and finished 3rd just in front of Buchan.

Ah, but we were up in the barren northern part of the park near the border ;)

First off I'd like to welcome an old PSN friend - RBL007 who joined us tonight from New Zealand! It was also good to see stanepoke back on dry land 👍

Bad luck for ade3210! :( What a time for your internet to pack up when you're on lap 11/15 and in 3rd place! - In recognition of the work you had done, I will award you points equivalent to how many laps you had completed. In this case it works out to be 11 laps (73% of the course)

I know I wanted a wet race, but the 'trip' around the 'Ring got a bit too wet even for me!!! (Not that it stopped BUCHANPOWER & geordie139!)

Stewards Inquiry...

In the last race, both geordie139, and jamesybograt aquired the attention of the Stewards over the use of their cars....Good news for geordie139 though. The Nissan 350Z RS was indeed a track 'tuned' car, but there was 300 built to satisfy the 'production' base of that car.

jamesybograt - though, unfortunately, using a G37 Sema edition, which is a out & out non-production car, so those hard won ponts (6) will be deducted.

All in all, its been a good race meet yet again! 👍 :)
