Hey, should we try and get a race night running for Sunday? Would be cool if we could have 1 hour practice, 30min qualify for pole position and then run something like a 30-40 lap (about 1 hour) race so we would have to take tyres, fuel and so on into account?

The 1 hour practice would be to find good setup and the correct car. Maybe 600-650pp cars (as there is many to pick from) with any type of selection of tyres. Would also work good with min 1000kg and max 500-600hp.

Have this as a Sunday (or any day) thing and the previous weeks winner would pick pp/hp/kg level and track to mix it up a bit. Maybe even post on your site what track it will be for the next week and what pp/hp/kg so it would be good to get a headsup and be able to practice. run this for say 10 weeks and then point out a season winner. All in the name of fun of course =)

Sound like a plan OmnuisGT?

I'm liking the sound of this, I'd be up for this on a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon :-)

I'm liking the times you're suggesting too, as I like my mini enduros (around the hour mark for a race, like you say - tyres and fuel, it adds something extra) Qualifying for sure, but what a good idea to have a free practice just to 'setup' our cars, then hit the qualifying! We would just need a way to 'clear' the times set during the Free Practice, so its only the qualifying times that count.

I'm easy on what cars and pp/bhp/kg we use, but I would say one thing...the cars have to remain with the same 'class' you know what I mean, Production Road, RM, Super GT, Touring, Rally, Race etc...just to keep it looking real as I hate seeing normal cars then there's this one race car with the full-on bodykit and sponsor logos all over! :-)

Other than that (and if my internet allows!) I'm sure it has a lot of potential :-D Lets see what the others think

To clear the times what you do is change the track. eg. if you're racing in Suzuka for that week then you change the track to another different track then change it back to Suzuka.

How about have the practice on a Friday night, you can of course practice on your own but I think its more fun to see what times other people are getting and its pushes you so much more, but it is also good to give each other tips.

Then on the Saturday run the qualify and race. And I totally agree it has to be the same type of cars so it looks way better (and feels better).

That sounds good, although as much as I'm on on Saturdays, I wouldn't like to guarantee a time I'd be on, it can vary depending on what I might be doing at short notice, thats why the Sunday afternoons were easier for me :-D

Friday and Saturday nights are good for me. Sundays are OK, but I do have really stupid early starts on Mondays, however I am on 2 weeks summer shut down after this thursday so the next few weeks should be OK.

Hi I'm a friend and work mate of GTP_ADE he's been telling me about your races and id like to get involved if possible.
I'm 29, a clean racer and enjoy same car/spec races.
If anyone wants to add me my user name is Norfolk_Assassin and I'm also on sometimes as GTP_LiveTheDream

How about we do our practice on Friday evenings/night. Somebody starts a server (not me im on a 3G connection) and then leaves it running as long as they can and we connect and just run the same track all evening.

That way we can join when we can and have the time to. Set it at the PP or HP/KG level we want and just run and have fun, help each other with setups and so on.

Then on the Sunday we run the poleposition at a time that suits all (I know it can be hard to find a time that is good for all) and have the race start and may the fastest racer on that track win =). I work early on Mondays as well so to late would be hard for me as well. Damn tihs getting old stuff.

I used to do something like this every week in a race team I was part of before when I played alot of LFS (Live For Speed), was sooo much fun. So I can't take credit for the idea hehe.

I could set up a forum where we can post that weeks track, PP or HP/KG and keep track of who wins and a scoreboard of sorts (I have a couple of domains we could use). It could get very messy having it in here but then again GTPlanet is very good.

Omnius this is your pick as you started the thread and have put loads of work into this, Im not trying to run over you in any way but I think you get that =)

@Live The Dream: who takes part is up to the Omnius but he is a sound guy me thinks.

Thanks for the kind words matey!

I'm up for that on a Friday night, and I'll not be leaving too late neither for the Sunday. As for where to post, well do it here, thats why I came here for in the first place, the community home of GT ;)

If you think its a mess I have my 'clan' site also, but I guess that may take our focus away from here, even though I have a GT area on my clan site. I guess to me, its neater to keep it here I think

So would you like to suggest our first race day then? 👍

Another Lotus man indeed, thanks for allowing me in ill look forward to the racing ill mainly be a weekend racer due to the 4am alarm clock and the annoying 4 year old who always wants to drive.

Thats no probs matey! I'm sure I'll see you online this weekend then! I'll be able to tell you all about my love of the Elan M100 !!!!! Only joking, I'll not bore you when there's racing to do :)

How about this for the first car?

Car: Lexus IS F '07
Tyres: Sport Soft
Aero Parts: Race Modification
Tuning Parts: Sport ECU, Sport Intake Manifold, Racing Air Filter, Sport Exhaust Manifold, Catalytic Converter: Sports
Settings: Ballast +5kg [1190kg] Power Restrictor 99.4% [572bhp] Final Gear [2.680] Downforce Front [28] Rear [32]
Traction Control: Optional
Brake Bias: Optional
ABS: Optional

This is the set up used in the last concourse event (on gt planet).

I'm liking that! Gives me another reason to purchase another IS-F just so I can RM it! 👍

Cool car pick I think, I would like to have racing tyres my self. Racing tyres somehow keep the race tighter when its longer races (not so many people driving of in the corners) and also makes it a bit faster. I do love speed. But I am open to everything =)

It does seem like there is two "camps" in GT, some that only like road cars with road type tyres and some that like the GT/RM/LM/Touring type of cars with racing tyres.

I dont think we should lock it to one car though, it can be fun when there is plenty of different cars on the track, some faster on the straights and some faseter around corners. More like a real touring car race. As long as the PP or HP/KG is the same its normally very even. But if its one car I am of course still ok with that, in the end its the racing that is fun =)

And yeah I agree it will be cool to keep it here as well, I just wanted to give everybody the option if they wanted it hehe.

Well thats it, we either class a race as a Spec race, or like I said in my other post, a 'Class' race. So I'm happy if anyone else wants to use another car (using the regs set above, as long as all cars are RM for this race) I'll be using the Lexus, and as for tyres, I know in some quarters there's a point of contention over the use of race tyres, not sure why though, I'm thinking more of realism, if we are running RM cars, surely it would be correct to have race tyres, if we were running non RM production cars I'd say yes, go for sport tyres and I'd only use comfort tyres if we were doing a untuned production car race.

And its the same thing with the settings being "locked", this removes a lot of the thing that I was thinking could be fun to try out in the practice session, testing different setups, testing different cars. Finding that perfect setup and car for you on that track. This is mostly maybe for me though as I would like to learn more about this =)

And of course don't mean this in any sort of bad way GTP_ADE, not at all. Just droping in my thoughts. And I like all kinds of racing as long as its with good people and we all have fun =)

Good afternoon gents. I think the debate regarding tyres a good point. I only used that set up as an idea, but we could change a few aspects like tyres, maybe use racing hards. We could even implement a mandatory pitstop where we have to use racing mediums. As for set up, the car will come with the fully customisable suspension, so feel free to use it to suit your own driving style. As long as we are all around the same bhp, I think that this will be a great racing weekend.

I couldn't agree more Ade, as long as we have a set bhp/kg or pp, thats what counts to make for a good race, but you're right, I wish there was an option in the game that would 'light up' on the selected lap to say the pits are now open for the next xx laps, that way you could have 5, or whatever you set it to, laps when you had to pit, otherwise I bet some people would just keep driving without pitting.

Us on the other hand would be honest and play the game, and all follow the rule should we set one about pits.

Hey all, a good thing about using free pick of tyres is, it brings into account that if you are on racing soft you have to pit more then racing hard this brings out piting strategy into account. But hey im all good with what ever we pick. Because I have no idea how long racing soft would last in GT5 or racing hard to be honest hehe. Such a sin that you can't pick how much fuel you have have to start with. I don't even know how many laps you can do on a full tank in GT5, does it even depend on the type of car you drive? And does less fuel=faster laps because of less weight? This is the type of things that could be cool.

Just think if this happens, say Omnius was in the lead with 10 laps to go and then has to pit because no fuel left and somebody passes him hehe it wouldn't only be about speed then. Also damage would be good because if you get to much damage you would have to pit to sort it out and this would also make one drive a bit more careful. On a 40 lap race this could mean many pits or only one if you driving good.

Now I am just shooting out ideas here not making up the rules. Just pointing out things we could do. But then again this could also be up to the winner of this week to pick for next week. We could say that its GPD_ADE turn this week to pick what rules we are going to use. One last thing so we don't have to same person picking every week (if the same person wins all the time), if the same person wins two in a row then its the person in second place that picks.

hehe sorry that I write sooo much all the time as well =)

You joining WarriusZero tonight? 20:30 his lounge? You'll need and un tuned/modified Audi RS6 Avant, Sport Tyres only nothing else.

Can't today got to much at work tomorrow =/

I want to.. and been thinking about it all week hehe but work work work.

Ive just ran a couple of laps with each Tyre and my honest opinion is to keep with sports soft as the racing hard tyres make the car stick like a go kart which requires no driver talent.
Just my opinion though and ill go with what ever is chosen.

Well done on your win at the ring tonight in the zero cup:tup:👍👍, I didnt do so well. The first race was better for me, and I think I could have had 3rd place if everyone had pitted.

Thanks Ade! I'm well chuffed! My first ever online win, and what a track to do it on!

I'm keeping that replay thats for sure!!! :gtpflag:
