Cork Screw passing . . .

So I may be wrong, possibly, but i would have thought that trying to pass someone going into the cork screw at Leguna Seca in a skippy is a bad idea.

According to the last race i did, however, it seems that this is the place to attempt a pass, and wreck both your own car and the car you are attempting to pass. I had two cars decided to try to pass me going into the cork screw, and both times it resulted in wreckage. I was not the only person this happened to in the race.

Long story short, I only finished 11 laps and in P10 after having a great start that saw me up in P2 from P8 going into turn 3.

edit: it also dropped my safety rating .17

if you were racing MX-5s then you could manage 2 cars (not recommended) in the corkscrew but higher power cars most likely not. that sucks that that happened

I wouldn't try it in any car! There's other safer spots to make a move on Laguna, to me the Corkscrew is just dumb.

I think its the only place on the whole track that isnt good for passing. Every other corner has plenty of room for passing.

Only if you're desperate and you think you can get the other guy to chicken out. It's very much one of those "yield or crash" corners.

I can maybe understand trying it on the last lap but a very risky move chances r if u gave caught someone up at that point u will catch them again on a different part of the track. More experience drivers will know this and probably not try on the corkscrew, less experienced drivers will try to pass on any corner they c even the slightest of gap. You could just yield to drivers on the corkscrew and pick up the pieces when they miss their braking point and spin?

bummer!

It can be dangerous to try and pass at the corkscrew
Rossi got a pass on Stoner at the corkscrew in the 2008 MotoGP (motorcycles mind you) race at LS and for that he was awarded 'pass of the year!'
(that was one of the best MotoGP races of all time, too! :) )

If you really need to get around someone bad, wait for just about 40 feet, the bottom of the corkscrew is where you can take a different line, some people go all the way to the curbing and some people stay tight to the exit at the bottom
