Anybody thought to ever name the corners at the fantasy tracks? I thought to do some of that.

Turn 6 (again?) simply, The Hairpin

Thats all I got, I'll get back to this when I can come up with more names (maybe some cools one).

untitled.jpg

I did this a while back. All the names have (had) reasons, if you want an explanation I can post it later.

Is this the Catchphrase of corner naming? Say what you see? So turns 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 should all be called Cliff? They're not very imaginitive names.

Nice idea, here's my first attempt:

Grand Valley Speedway (Normal/Forward)
1 = Ice cream
2 = Sand pit
3 = Take off
4 = Bunker
5 = Hill top
6 = The Sandwich
7 = Floater
8 = Wedge
9 = Bucket
10 = The squisher
11 = Hangover
12 = Bridge
13 = Vista
14 = Nook
15 = Cranny
16 = Knock out / K.O.
17 = Runaway

I believe the official name for Grand Valley turn 4 is "Pamela's Peak"...

Like, whoa, dude. Those are some awesome names. I never could have come up with them for myself. :dopey:

It's a nice idea for a thread, but you couldn't have made your first examples any more uninspiring.

I would have thought turn 13 would be named that. Alas she has had a reduction in recent years, so turn 4 could now be appropriate. :sly:

13. Leno's Chin
15. Probiscus point

Stupid ? How do I do multi-quotes.

Please do.

Okay then. This is from the old AMMT first post, going back a bit with this (08/09 sorta time):

The lap starts at Hill, a long left hander. The corner is named after Graham and Damon, and well, it goes up a hill. This corner is useful for testing oversteer and understeer through a long, constant turn.
Next up is Hamilton, a right-left-right, named after the F1 driver who made the chicane cutting rules a hot topic in recent times. Since the FIA don't groom us to be their pet world champions, our cars have to stay on the tarmac. We aren't complaining though, as it gives us an opportunity to test a cars ability to change direction quickly.
After Hamilton is the back staight which slides into Lotus, a right hairpin with a variable angle, lovely for agile cars and nightmarish for tanks. As you brake into 2nd to take the first, tight apex of Lotus you must already be preparing to accelerate through the second, shallower angle section of this tricky corner. Entering Lotus we expect our cars to be around 18-22 seconds into the lap, as Lotus signals the halfway mark on the lap.
Follow the correct line through Lotus and you will drive through the first section of Imola, a track where it was necessary to add chicanes to the format. The chicanes in Imolas design are wide and fast, so our own Imola is like that.
Through the second half of Imola you will be braking for Exit, so called because exit speed is so much more important than entry speed when you drive around it.
We then have another short straight, before Boulevard. It reminds us of a roundabout, its that simple. So we picked up a thesaurus and looked for synonyms to road, and our Stig started pointing and grunting at Boulevard! Funny, as he cannot read. This corner requires a car to possess easy throttle control to hold a set speed.
Finally we have Grandstand and Kaira. Grandstand is the second apex of Boulevard, so called because if we did any important work i.e. race series at our sleepy little track, the grandstand would overlook this corner. Grandstand itslef is not too difficult, but it leads into Kaira, named after legendary tuning group Tommy Kaira. This little right hand kink so soon after Grandstand is sneaky in the way it bleeds off a cars speed.
"And"< in true Jeremy Clarkson fashion>"Across the line!"

Think I put some thought into it :P

Using this map, I've named almost all the track.

1&2: The Lens

3: Drifter Corner

4: License Test Bend

5: The Canyon

6&7: Monkeybranch Turn

8: Shopping

9: Lookout Point

10&11: Smoothbore Turns

12: &set

13: UNDERSTEER

14&15: Lap Breaker

All of these have reasons to be named this, if you want, you can ask.

It's a long-running GT-community in-joke. From GT by the Numbers, if I recall.

Gotya. Kinda like the Milk Truck thing from years ago I suppose.

Only corner that I've named is Turn # 2 at Trial Mountain. Slut's Curve is what I call it because one of my virtual drivers (named after a certain 'loose' celebrity, but I can't print the actual name here without breaking AUP) got in the habit of taking this right too sharp back in my GT2 days, and then catching air as her Camaro jumped the rumble strip, flying over the strip of grass just off-track. :D

I believe the Numbers did have a thread naming all the GT tracks' corners, though I haven't looked for it.

If there's a circuit in Las Vegas in GT5, I'm going to name the corners after CSI characters. I love that show.

these are my thoughts, 'cause it looks like a map of the US:

NOTE: these are numbered by way of the Prima Strategy Guide

1. Vermont
2. Maine
3. Virginia
4. Carolina
5. Georgia
6. Florida
7. Alabama
8. Mississippi
9. Louisiana
10. Houston
11. Dallas
12. San Antonio
13. Arizona
14. San Diego
15. Los Angeles
16. San Francisco
17. Eureka
18. Washington

That should be all 18 turns. What do you guys think?

Wow. I just followed it in my head, yea it seems to work! :D

I would live just before Turn 3 (lefty curve) shows up...perhaps a few yards in from where the track ends. You'd probably live somewhere near the final sweeper. Not sure how far inwards, though, or if you'd be on the track.

technically, i'd be closer to the entrance to pits.

For GV East

1. Vermont
2. Maine
3. Virginia
4. North Carolina
5. Tennessee
6. Missouri
7. Arkansas
8. Oklahoma
9. Colorado
10. Oregon
11. Washington

Hi guys ! Here is what I'll suggest for Motorland :

picture.php

1 / K J : Crankshaft
2 / J I : Connecting Rod
3 / H : Piston
4 / G : Camshaft
5 / F : Poppet Valve
6 / E : Intake
7 / D : Compression
8 / C : Ignition
9 / B : Exhaust
10 / A : Four-Stroke

MOTORLAND right ?! What do you think ? It is a good way to learn technical words too ;) !

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_combustion_engine)

PS : If the Reverse version were the Forward version, the names choices would have been even better -if they're any good in the first place ;)-

How about doing Engine types? Like:

1. Hemi
2. Boxter
3. Inline
4. Big Block
5. Small Block
6. V
7. W
8. 4-stroke
9. Diesel
10. Electric

NOTE: (Order not exact)
