Alright, I searched and didn't find angthing directly relating to this topic except for https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=71980&highlight=Corrado. I got around to searching today for any hint of a new Corrado model and came across this picture:
Corrado.jpg

Apparently, it came from the Nov. 2005 Road & Track. Now, why is there so much difference in the styling if these magazines came out around the time? I personally like the R&T picture but something tells me it would end up looking more bland and not as aggressive.

Thoughts.

As a VW fan, I'm not going to be dissapointed either way. A high-performance VW coupe has been needed for a long, long time.

Between the two pictures, I would predict the Autocar illustration would be more accurate, based uppon the VW Concept-A that debuted at Geneva. The picture you show looks just a bit too-Audi to be a VW, so what we see above may be an over-styled concept of the new A5 or A7.

It's from Road and Track. It's guranteed done up. I've seen them put in anticipations of cars that are just to fill up space in the news section. Go to 4 or 5 year old issues and tell me, if the cars they predict exist today, if anything was accurate.

I don't and never will trust any news from that source.

i really like the agressive look of the car. almost looks like an aston. if it stays like that, then itd be amazing.

but a coupe of any sort from VW that could compete would rock

they hire artists to make a mock up. cus everything is better with pictures...

I could see that; seems to me that the roofline looks really low. Maybe, (because of the color) this is a PS of the W12. Could this "orange" be the color VW designates as "only-for-looks"? I sure hope I am wrong.

Thinking in terms of the future, we know that VW is planning on a MKVI Golf by 2008* (correct me if im wrong on the year) because the current model is too expensive to produce. MAYBE this will mean ANOTHER design change....with a formal introduction of the 2008 Corrado (pictured above) at an auto show.

Im just letting my mind wander with this, but who knows.....maybe VW is thinking the same thing.

They are both "artists impressions". They take any previous incarnations of the car, add the manufacturers current image (grills etc) and then add their own interpretation of it.

Checkout the artists impressions of the McLaren F1 when it was announced. They are all clearly just made up.

The bottom line is, if there are no actual spy shots, the magazines make it up.

I know theres a trend already set with VW's drivetrain layouts, but trying to compete with the Cayman and Z4 with a FF platform? good luck VW.
