Corrupt Save FileF1 2010-2016

I'm so disappointed right now, I turned my PS3 on to have a drive in F1 2010. I was about to do P3 at Melbourne - my last save point - only to be told that my game data is corrupted :ouch:

Ok I was only two races into the career but still this is a bit annoying, has anyone managed to get further into the season only to suffer the same fate?

Share your corrupt save file experiences with the rest of us :ill:

Happened to me at Melbourne also.
I did a short weekend, after practice was up (I did the performance upgrade) I let it save and quit. When I came back my save was corrupted.

I just passed Melbourne again, but I did practice and then right away I did qualifying. After qualifying I quit the game and when I came back it was fine.

I always backup my saves now though, just go to "My Documents" > "My Games" > "FormulaOne". Then copy and paste the whole savegame folder back into the "FormulaOne" folder so it creates a copy. Then I rename it with the date and time so that I can keep multiple backups.

I know it's stupid we shouldn't have to worry in the first place, but I think this is the only way to be safe until they patch it.

I haven't yet had that happen though I have heard of it.

I back up my saves to a memory stick. Only thing I find is that the backup wants to over write the previous save, even on my stick.

I don't like the idea of over writing a good save with a corrupt one. I turn off the game, reload it to see if it works, then save over my old one to a stick.

It's so 1980's........Syntax error.........

Any better way to do this, btw I'm on PS 3?

Thats pretty much the way I am doing it on the PS3. Only thing that would make it easier is if you had 2 memory sticks. That way you wouldnt need to check it before saving it. You would always have the last one on one stick, and the newest one on another. When done over right the oldest one as you know the other worked previously, then back up the new one.

Kind of a PITA that we have to do this, but I think backing up is the only safe way for now. Maybe after they patch it, it will take care of this.

This was posted by Codemasters on the official Codemasters forum.

"I can confirm that this issue is with development, will be addressed in the patch, and we’d like you to try the following workaround:

After a practice session where you complete an R&D objective and unlock a new upgrade make sure you then load in to the following qualifying session before exiting the game.

And also, as our technical support FAQ now says:

We believe this only occurs if, after completing an R&D objective, you…
- Retire to the paddock via the Engineer (in the garage).
- Terminally damage your car and select retire to paddock.
- Get disqualified and select retire to paddock.

As long as you progress to the qualifying session before quitting the game this problem will not occur."

Nice find Darkmiss, thanks for sharing that.

Thanks for posting that Darkmiss, this did happen to me after I completed an R & D objective.

I was considering not playing the game again until this had been addressed, I'll try the workaround, let's hope it works 👍

For you guys on PS3, once you copy it to your USB stick pop it in your PC and just rename the folder called "SAVEDATA" to "SAVEDATA_date" (eg: SAVEDATA_29-09-2010).

Then when you want to reload an old save data just rename it back to SAVEDATA and plug it into your PS3.

Also, thanks for the post Darkmiss. I had a feeling it had to do with quitting after R&D.

Just copped this now, just about to start Monaco Quali.... 6 races into the season in a HRT, Expert/Legend AI No Aids....... sitting 6th in the championship with 43 points.

To say i'm annoyed right now doesn't cover it. Over a weeks worth of bloody hard work gone.

I'm not 100% sure on this mate but if you create another profile or as many as you want on your PS3 you can copy your save file to the profile of your choice.

I have a few different profiles on my PS3 for different family members and I use their profiles for my backups. I havn't had a corrupted file yet but I can copy the save from another profile to mine and it works ok.

Happened to me.
Now I avoid career until the patch fix(es) arrives....... soon.....

I’m right there with ya, now that I have been body slammed by the game and lost my progress and my setups. Mine came when I was playing the game online and not like some of the other ways that I had heard of. Mine just happened out of the middle of nowhere. Lock up, reboot, restore, all other games failure, resurrection, all games working again, all saved data for F1 toast.

I was going to start the phony career over again any way so I’ll take it for a learning experience and try to figure out how to use my thumb drive to save my setups and what ever. All I can say is Gerrrrrrrr

Overheard someone yesterday say that after Monaco there was a glitch and Codemasters were having to do a patch. Hope this doesn't happen to me as I'm about to do Monaco Quali in my Williams.
