Hey guys,

I am currently speccing out a new pc build for 2014 and I was wondering what cooler to go for. I will be using this rig for gaming (1920x1080 at ultra and possibly 2560x1440 at high). I will be playing games like Assetto Corsa, Battlefield 4, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Civ 5 etc. I will also be image editing and video editing as well.

Current Specs:

Fractal Design R4/Corsair 600t (not sure yet).
i5-4670k
Asus Maximus VI Hero.
Corsair AX860 PSU.
16GB Kingston Hyper X Beast RAM
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked 2GB (Will be SLI in the future).
HDD 1
HDD 2+3

I might also get a Korean 1440p monitor (possibly QNIX).

What do you all think of this proposed rig?

Hydro all the way.

Other than that, the rig looks awesome.

What's the budget?

Budget doesn't matter atm as I'll just save up and buy the stuff when I can.

Thanks ;) I currently have a 212 evo in my current rig.

Reason why I am looking at the h100i is because I'm looking at venturing into liquid cooling so I was just wondering what maintenance I have to do to the h100i.

Supposedly none. It's a closed loop system that never needs refilling. I'm not sure how long it's guaranteed for but I'd guess quite a long time.

Liquid cooling is overrated.

There, I said it. A 212 Evo will keep everything cool perfectly with that build. If anything goes wrong with the liquid cooling system, you're entire rig is screwed if you're unlucky.

If anything, I'd advise you to get a better GPU if you're going for 1440p because a GTX770 will not cut it. It has not enough memory for that resolution to max everything, or even at high, with good framerates. Get a GTX780 or an AMD R9 290 and 1440p will be a breeze.

Stick to close loop (H100i, Seidon etc) for low/no maintenance. Open loops (w/ glowing colored tubes?) are a bit extreme, complicated and looks dangerous for me and more expensive. If I have to pick I would choose D-14 because its regarded one of the best air cooler and beat some top of the line water coolers out there for years and also because its silent.
