Corvette Z06 vs. ZR-1 - tuning parts potential

I was just wondering if anyone has tried buying both the Corvette Z06 and ZR-1 to see which one ends up making the most power once fully modified in the tuning shop?

I don't have enough money to try buying both yet to find out myself. The reason I ask is because you would think the Z06 may have the better potential due to its larger 7.0L V8 vs. the ZR-1's supercharged 6.2L V8. Maybe you can turbocharge or even supercharge the Z06's engine, whereas the ZR-1's you wouldn't because it's already supercharged.

Has anyone tried this out?

they seem to be real close i was drag racing a z06 and zr1 last night and they both would out run my 900hp rs6 on the top end they seemed even

That's what I was thinking. Hopefully someone who has tried both can confirm exact figures. I guess it will just come down to whether I want the larger engine or not. The ZR-1 is considerably more than the Z06, so right there it's at a bit of a disadvantage if you're going to end up tuning it anyway.

so far i only RMed the new camaro, then im RMing the 69 camaro.

AFTER that i plan on RMing (and maxing) the ZR1 for the PD cup thing or what ever and getting it perfect. the ZR1 with a few mods is making like 800HP, which is 100 more than my RMed camaro.

I'm curious to know about this as well. I bought the Z06 and with all the performance mods it ended up being being around low 800s hp, I don't remember the exact number.

Seeing how G25Wwheel is saying the ZR1 made 800 with a few mods, the ZR1 might actually make more power.

The z06 fully modded makes low 800s I think 820 some if I remember correctly. Break it in and it bumps up to mid 800s, change the oil and right now mine is sitting at 865/6900RPMs.

My zr1 made mid 800s, once it was broken it make upper 800s, once I changed the oil it's sitting at 896/6900RPMs.

When I first got my zr1 and slightly modded it (can't remember the power), it was making close to about the same lap times as my fully modded z06. Now that it's fully modded it'll make lap times a couple seconds faster. Which is what matters, so I say go for the zr1. Even though I still use my z06 the most. Before long I want to get another zr1 just to race mod.

The displacement of the Zo6 and the Zr1 doesn't specify how much power you can make. But obviously seeing the 6.2L supercharged zr1 has stronger block/pistons/heads and compression plays a role in it too.You have too realize the weight of the zr1 is lower also. The gearing of the two are way different,zr1 has closer gear ratio's which is better. The Zr1 maxed out is 896hp. the only thing i can find that's out ran me was a bugatti with everything done too it, but i can smoke a eat a stock one alive.

I have the 2004 (C5) Z06, and I got it fully modded and tuned at 760HP give or take, I'm going off the top of my head hear. Anyways the car is a beast, I was actually able to win a race against that high end Viper and the ZR1 with a race mod online against fellow GT Planet members. So basicly if you're on a tight budjet go for the C5 its only 54grand and can easily hang with the other vettes if not beat them if you're a good driver/tuner.

Actually guys, looks like my zr1 wasn't fully broken in yet. Sitting on 901hp now weighing in at 1221kg.

My C6Z is still sitting on 865hp weighing in at 1183kg.

Zr1 power/weight 1.33.
Zo6 power/weight 1.34.

I guess this proves the zr1 is faster? haha

RM makes the car a RACE CAR. That's what Race Modification means. Even though you may make your car have high HP and low weight with all the upgrades, the Race mod makes the car much better in terms of cornering. Trust me. If you're competing in the high class races, RM is the way to go, then add the engine mods back to it!

kind of gutting you cant see the specs after you race mod it, stupid if you ask me, how are you meant to know whether its worth doing or not

I just got a Z06 Race modded, from a brand new car. It comes with basically race suspension, all the drivetrain mod, race exhaust, all weight reduction and front and rear adjustable aero setup. Not sure if math adds up to be less, but the extra downforce is easily worth it...

Added all engine upgrades except the supercharger and smoked the GT World Championship. With me not learned 2 of the tracks and the car not being setup for Nordschleife. Basically driving at 6 tenth and won all 5 races.

i had a z06 with all engine mods and i was getting 790hp, now i did the RM and im getting ~550hp
i was wondering if i could get any more but it doesn't seem like it, its cornering abilities are insane i just wish i could get a higher top speed in the long straights without having to make my acceleration crap because of the gear ratios

It won't be cheaper. If you're going to RM a car, do so right away, before getting any mods. After you RM the car, start upgrading it.
