Corvettes

Hi, I would like to try something , I hope that it may peak some interest. I wonder ,just for the sake of imagination, If I really owned a corvette, and I was sinnfully rich. And I could participate in ,well ,a sort of underground , street racing circuit. The thing is you have to keep the car as street legal & practical as you could get away with. So , inline with that train of thought, here are the specs, Max hp 434/ suspension full custom/ sports brake/ Sports tires, I know but remember practical :) full racing tranny/ triple clutch/ racing flywheel/ carbon driveshaft/ p-chip/ P&P/ Tune -up can not exceed 434 hp/ Semi-racing muffler, I know but remember street legal :) weight reduction #3. Limited slip 1.5/ The course? you wonder? well where else but Seattle Circuit Full. Arcade disc, damage on, Race , Hard , 5 Laps, Tire wear fast,. Winner determined by best lap and best finish. Should one competitor have best lap & another best finish, then a 2nd race shall be ran with the same stipulations in place until a victor that has both best finish & best lap emerges. Which of the 6 corvettes do you think will win? :D

I actually ended up going with the '64 Stingray and tried a few runs last night. Got a feel for the beast before going in for the real deal....

That car damage: on is a real 🤬 !!! After a few tries, I'd modified driving style again to compensate for the sports tires, but the other cars were still manhandling me pretty badly.

I decided the best strategy was to stay in the pack for the race, then try to make a run for it on the straightaway down the hill just before the turn to cross the railroad tracks.

The pack had other ideas :P..... 1st couple of tries, couldn't get ahead of 'em and ended up against a wall a couple of times which threw my steering off and ended me limping across the finish line in a solid 6th place finish. But it was the last try before bed that was really notable.

I managed to stay in the pack, not smack any barriers or turns and had made my end-run on that last, golden, straightaway. I slowed down significantly for the series of twisty turns on the back leg, and began turning the corner to go under the overpass & head for home.
Well, the pack caught me. Saw 'em coming in my rearview & let my excitement get the better of me. When I gunned the gas around the bend my rear end spun around and fell prey to a crushing blow from the oncoming Tuscan 6--which ricocheted past and never looked back!

:shakehead: So close, so close....

Hey , Glad to see your given it a go. It really is pretty tough with car damage on .And the other limits placed on the car.You have to be oh so carefull and your car is not so over superior to the ai cars. And you have made it further than I have so far. I have just been exhausted when I get home from work, hopefully I can get on it this weekend. I chose the 82 stingray. Good luck

Thanks! I hear what you're saying. It's busy season where I work right now---12 hour days are the norm :banghead:--so I'm pretty fried when I get home....I actually finished one this last weekend, So I'll try to post it up later on.

Nothing too spectacular at all :( :( :shakehead: total time was something like 9:45, and I ended in 6th place. I'll put up the actual times when I get home.

Good luck to you, too!

Okay...Here it is!

'64 Stingray

Total Time: 9.03.503

Laps:
1.55.341
1.45.470
1.44.796
1.47.865
1.49.761

Finish: 6th

Hi Trailer. My kid finally got off the sony so I was able to give it run. ( total time 8:36.291) Finished 5th (fastest lap was 1:40.901. I got up to 4th once but the viper & tuscan were beaten me up pretty bad . Hurt the car on the last lap at the top of the hill. Pretty wild ride!

:D Sure enough! I know what you mean, too. I can get into about 3rd for the 1st 2 laps, but then I can't hold it there, either.
Once you miscalculate a corner and get a good whack on the car it's a struggle from there on.

So what happened, dude....You give up on it? Or just not enough time? :P That's what happened to me!
Too...much......WORK! Must........SLEEP!!!

Hi Trailer, I figured it was pretty munch over and I realy been busy. But I'll tell you what ,I'll give it another run. As of right now tho hehe, I got the better finish AND fastest lap :) You may want to try a different Vette :D

I think you may be right...The '64 may just not be the best choice for this one! Anyway, I was just checking to see if you were going to go to a different street track or something really.

I gracefully accept my spot in 2nd :D :P

That was a cool challenge, tho!

Thanks Trailer. If you have an idea for a challenge I'd like to hear it . What's your favorite track? Maybe we could bring out our favorite full-bred race-cars and put them up against one another.

Heh, Seattle Circuit actually is my favorite track! :P
I'm a big fan of Midfield, Special Stage R5, and Trial Mountain also though.
How about a few laps around R5 or Midfield?
Maybe we could put a HP cap on it, or use hard slicks to make things a little more complicated. :D

A night race challenge, ya know, that's the first one I've seen here. Seems nobody likes to race at the R-5 track. I like it well enough tho. So how's about this, I can pretty munch post descent times in my Cerbera LM (she's my baby lol ). You bring one of your favorite LM cars. Run 5 laps ,arcade, race, difficult, tire wear fast. No damage this time around ok with you? I'd like to keep my tires super-soft if that's ok with you. The track SPECIAL STAGE R-5. // Best total time & best fastest lap. Maybe later we can have a 30 or so lap race and then we could try different tire combinations .Whatuya think :)

Yeah, I've noticed nobody suggests that track at all for race challenges. Glad you liked the idea.

SS tires are fine with me, but I do have one question: when you say "LM" car, I'll assume those are the cars with that actually listed in their name.
If that's the case, I believe I only have the Cerbera LM (Maybe an RX7 LM too... I'll have to check).
I was thinking of running something like the Kure R33, or the Unisia Jecs. I'll have to check when I get home from work which LMs I have.

...It's probably academic in any case. I suspect by your performance in the 'Vette street race that your driving skills are far superior to mine anyway :shakehead

Practice practice practice, as they say!

Yes,you assume correctly but I was thinking there were more than just a few. Turns out there aren't that many. My mistake sry. I was thinking more along the lines of the cars that have The R in the box before the name of the car. Do you have the SKYLINE R30 Silhouette Formula (R30)? The reason I ask is that I have 2 of them, one's red and the other blue and so we would be able to race blue verses red. If not how's about you pick a car and I'll match up to it by weight and horsepower. As far as superior goes, well , I've only won 1 maybe 2 races since I've been here lol, old smokey here's been gettin smoked. But I've had a good time in all of them.

Hey, that's cool as well. I did have the Silhouette Formula, but I sold it a while back. Never seen the blue one. That's a car you can win in one of the specialized races though, isn't it? Gimme' a sec, I'll look on the prize car list....
Yep, it's the 80's Sports Car race at Tahiti! I imagine I should be able to pick one up fairly easily, in that case. :D

Hate to say this ,but I'm haveing my isp canceled, need the money for other things. Hopefully I can find another soon. I went ahead and ran the race in my blue R30 .Here's my times TOTAL TIME 6:25.45// FASTEST LAP 1:14.596// TOP SPEED 181.49. Good luck to you Trailer and thanks for the raceing. :)
