Just finished the Cote d' Azur Endurance race with a moderate average lap time of 1m 21sec - i have to work on it more, but its a good start. I was changing rubber every 6th as on the 7th my lap time dropped by a second and on the 8th dropped by 3 seconds.
72 latps... i wanted to make the experience as close to reality as possible so for the whole race i never paused once and kept the same position as well. Having lapped the AI cars several times i concentrated on my driving skills. I had plenty of time to perfect each section of the track and at the end i think i came out a better driver than i was before the race.
In the end i was victorious. Sweating like a pig, thursty and tired with now even greater respect for the drivers who do it in the real world.

P.S. Is it me or does the rubber work beter when heated up? I always get faster laps on the second-third lap after changing.

I too have completed this endurance race, that is a great track btw...  And I too have noticed faster lap times about the 2nd or 3rd lap after the tires heat but a bit.  Best lap time on Cote is 1:19 in my 686/M..

The rubber does get better - it's best when the indicators are greenish yelow. blue=too cold, red=too old.

I know what you mean about the endurance races, I've done that race (full length) a dozen times in various F1 games over the years :)

Oh, anyone know why it's called Cote d' Azur in the game and not Monaco or Monte Carlo? I was pleasantly surprised when I went round the first bend for the first time and realised I knew the circuit :)

Yes, once the tires heat up, they become stickier, therefore gripping harder to the track.  It's the same with all the cars in the game, not just GT3.

hm.....i remember trying to perfect my first right bend. With A/T, never drop below 3rd gear in my f090/s stock gear ratio. Same thing for the second right bend.

I was using the 90/s with the gears set to Auto-42, max downforce, TCS on 3, otherwise stock. Its my second day with that car, i'm not used to it having previously been using the Racing NSX or the Viper Team Oreca. THe 90/S is very different and my biggest problem is cutting corners too much. It never slides, just sometimes turns like its on rails. With the other cars you get a bit of the rubber-band effect, this one it seems to turn even before you ask it to. My lap time should be better once i learn to avoid the small corrections i have to make to avoid cutting too much. The problem is, it sucks to go back and forth between the F-Cars and the regular touring cars, just as you get used to one, its completely useless in the other. I dont even know if these F-Cars are a good idea in this game. The other problem is that everything else just seems slow after a few laps in an F-Car.

Yea, it means Azure Coast ...
I don't know what Azure means but I think it's the color that the water has there in Southern France...

Cote D' Azur  is in Nice,  Southern France, but i do not know why they named the monaco (monte carlo) as Cote D' Azur cause it's not the same. It's close. Propably because of the famous grand prix name, they wanted to give something different.

No suzuka or spa in GT3.

About times in Cote D' Azur i was driving with an F1 - TURBO (similar to ..86) i have the english version but could not do under 1:20 secs. The turbo needs open road.
The anspirated ones later year ..90 ..94 can perform a lot better in this track because of its structure. Not yet have one.

PS: amazing feeling the slipstream of F1 !!!!!!!!

cotes d' azur (blue coast in english)is the name of the whole french mediterranean coast ,.
Monte-carlo is a littel independent state, which have for only bigger city : Monaco.
It 's a very littel piece of earth stuck between a rock and the sea.It is one of the economic paradise in the world
,who have two famous world car competition.
Monte-carlo world rally,and Monaco f1 GT.
It could be nice for the next vesion the nicest F1 race,SPA

put nicely de Smet.

If we start thought we would like all the F1 calendar's circuits.

About the times, have anybody checked that the 90's and after F1 cars perform better in monaco than turbos?

i lowered TCS to 3, as Lemans and did a  1:16 with the turbo F1. Thought needed high traction control but not the case.

Sheeesh, just realized - its 78 laps not 72 (i wish it was 72 LOL)

Anyway, i only have the 90/S out of the F1 cars. I did a 1:31 with the Merc DTM just to see what would happen.

I'm going t give it a couple of more runs with the 90/S tonight, see if i ge get below 1:15

i think that you can do lower times with non-turbos.
lemans is the 90/  F1 non - turbo ?

I am trying to get one from Dreamcar race but 3 times gave others (ah).

1:21 - that's good for the F090/s best I got with it was 1:24 and that's hauling arse.

Good Job Lemans

Quote: from pao on 12:06 pm on Aug. 3, 2001[br]my predictions were correct.
I finally got the V10 non-turbo F 90/s (790 HP)

time 1:13:500 !

Aaa Brahda Das good kine.  You drive fas kine yah?

thanks , i have been playing monaco since the first f1s at ps.
the 90 and 94' s f1 are the best for monaco.
the olds 86 87 etc are quicker in straights but in tight circuits are not(cause of turbine)

Sorry, guys, i honestly did not even check out the overall time, i was washed out and was just glad i made it. I mean for the whole 78 laps i never even paused it once. My arse was killing me (i was sitting on the floor the whole time with my back against the couch), the AC was off and i was still in 'office' clothes, so you can imagine how i felt when i crossed the finish line. Tonight i will see about the fastest time possible that i can get on this track in free-run mode and then do the Laguna Endurance (sorry, arse, gotta do what i gotta do LOL)
