Cote d'Azur- Bob is useless

I just couldn't believe how many times he crashed into barriers on the Beginner World Classic Car championship. I gave him a Stratos and he was barely overtaking an Autobianchi A112 in second to last place! Eventually, I had to give him a ridiculously overpowered car- my 512BB and he completely dominated. There is no competitive racing- it's either 1st by 20 seconds or somewhere near last. So I've decided to stick with A-Spec. Never touched B-Spec in GT4, anyway.

Dont overtake after the tunnel down hill... other AI crashes there too, bug?

dont know... but if you say bob is useless thats wrong...

b spec in gt4 was perfect

Just don't like B-Spec. Thankfully, it's only optional. I love doing the Licenses, Special Events, A-Spec, Arcade Mode, Practice, EVERYTHING about GT5 I love except that God awful B-Spec....

B-spec is good when you understand it. hitting pace up and overtake and watch bob smash the chicane and then do the same thing again and blame the game is just dumb. Focus on what makes him hit the chicane and avoid doing it, every B-spec race is winnable with equal car, sometimes you need another level or 2 but its doable if you just play the game instead of mashing the PU/OT or AFK. It is YOU who are playing the B-spec, not bob. so quit blaming him for your mistakes.

yeah gt5 b spec is bad and the few challenges too... 6 years and this... bit poor

It's not only that Bob is useless (yes, Bob since I'm not in control of the car) If I were driving, it would be a different story. It's boring just watching the computer do 6 laps of the same course and take 10 minutes. I can't leave him be because he will mess things up. But even if I did, where is the fun in going and doing something else? I can only imagine how boring it will be on Pro or Expert.

I'm not really complaining about the game taking 5 years. Just that B-Spec is a part of the game that I could happily have done without. Would have been even better imo if they had added a few more A-Spec championships instead of B-Spec.

B spec is fine if you like that type of thing, sort of like "Football Manager" games you get out what you put in. Your Drivers need instructions once they have learnt courses they improve, Boring sure it is if it is not your scene, but some of the better "free" cars come from winning B spec races. Once they have learnt the tracks they can be left to race on thier own. I find it fun now my Drivers are "Class 30+" i give them equal cars and see how they cope. Plus i give them top end cars send them around a tricky course and then if their times are good i try to beat them on A spec with the same car and tyres and track. Makes it fun when i have got bored of lathergic AI's to race against. When your Driver reaches Class 34+ put him in the FGT on Suzuka and try to beat his time using the same set up or in the X2010 then complain he is rubbish !

I am level 23 B-Spec, have about 3,000,000…what the damn hell do i have to do to get my driver to win? it's either 8th place or 2nd…..mostly 8th…..this game is a <not allowed here>!

If you pace up and down accordingly you will win at the very end. Keep at it, i tried a few times before I won. Pace up and down constantly through every lap.

I got so tired of my B-Spec ***hole not doing anything right, i cheated…..I downloaded a game save that has Gold on everything but 2 races LOL….(Being the LeMans 24 hour and the one after that…) its a level 35 driver so I got 5 level ups to do before I get to level 40 to do the last race…This will take DAYS (literally, I have to do the LeMans at LEAST 10 times to level up to 40!)…This will keep my PS3 tied up for a LONG…LONG…LONG…time…but oh well, i'll use my Xbox360 for other games LOL

Either you are given him the wrong equipment or you are just not doing it right. My bob has a record of 472wins/476 races so I can assure you Bobs know how to win. Yes, a lot of those wins were grinding and with overpowered equipment but quite a few others were in one manufacturer races or at tricky tracks - usually my bob had the same car I used in Aspec and I do not need to overpower the competition.

Read the other threads for hints, but stay in car with Bob and coach him until he is in the clear, and then keep an eye on him. Once you get to Enduros like becomes a lot easier...but very tedious.

Yes, in some cases that is true because Bob's competition can be even dumber than him.

But I won the Historic Racing Cup with a Dodge Challenger '70. Can you imagine Bob doing the same...?

Bob cannot drive through the chicane after the tunnel on Cote d'Azur in the Toyata 7... period! There must be a bug because it doesn't matter if I pace him down, up or maintain. I have 5 different Bobs, and they all do it. Ugh....

I waited until Bob was around level 30. I used a hot headed Bob and let him drive the Toyota. I also equipped the mid rpm turbo instead of the high rpm because of all the turns. It took probably 5 times for him to win it. Make sure you pace down while in the tunnel on EVERY lap. This is VERY important. You may also want to pace down just before the top of the hill to keep from spinning out. It takes a lot of patience and you have to be picky about when and where to overtake. You won't be able to get out front from the start and dominate. It's just not going to happen with this race. I would also suggest using a higher level Bob.

Velo,
All very good recommendations. Will all this keep Boob from hitting the wall before even entering the chicane? It doesn't seem to matter what speed he approaches. The worst is when the other AI in theToyota hits it too.
It seriously seems like a bug.

Pacing down in the tunnel is crucial to not hitting the wall at the chicane. It was strange though, even though I would pace down in the tunnel, Bob would make up a lot of ground on the cars directly in front of him as they would break for the chicane. He never once hit the wall. I will admit that when I tried this with around a level 20 Bob he would hit the wall no matter what. I also think that a hot headed Bob is best. It's been my experience that the hot heads do better in any race that's a close tough race. This particular Bob won me this race and the Nascar Series.

Take off any turbos, and watch a miracle happen. ;)
