Could someone answer a few questions?

I'm pretty sure most of these questions have been answered so I'm sorry, but I'd like to hear from you guys directly.

Okay, as a 100% offline, mostly time trial except when I need money kind of player, is it worth it? Mostly what I'd like to know in this department is if you can get money by playing offline, and how 'grindy' it is compared to older GTs. Is going online necessary at all?

Also, is the frame rate good? Is it at least better than GT6?

How does it feel with a DS4? I don't know how to ask this, does it feel like I'm driving a car? Is it like DriveClub, where even though it's obviously arcade the cars seem like they have an actual weight? In DC, there's an obvious difference between a Continental GT and an Exige, but in GT5 and 6 it feels like every car is the same except how grippy they are and how quickly they accelerate. Am I explaining myself here? Anyway, as said, I'm using a pad and have little interest and even less money for a wheel, so it doesn't matter to me how good/bad it is with one.

And also, what's the mileage and the mileage exchange? Is it the only place you can get those Gr.3 road cars? Is it a one time thing, if you miss it then forget about it? And, even worse, do you need to go online to get this mileage thingy?

Thanks!

1. Offline is getting better and I'm pretty sure the upcoming patch with the career mode will be available offline?
(Edit: one thing I'm not sure about is offline saving... that could be a big issue and I don't know if a change has or is being made for that)
2. Yeah it's better than 6, I've only noticed sub 30 in a few online races and I'm pretty sure that was lag and not a performance issue.
3. It feels good, I only race with a DS4 and found that there is a little delay with the inputs, but its a lot better than it was. It's not as razor sharp I found as PCars 1, but its still very enjoyable.
4. Mileage exchange is basically another form of currency that you can spend on special items, like special paints, helmets, wheels and some special cars like safety cars etc... you earn them by racing/driving and by completing in game achievements (not trophies)
5. I think Mileage points are tied to the servers so I don't think you can use them offline

  • It seems that you need to be connected to the internet as the saves are cloud based. As for accessing the online content as you asked, the answer is no, of course you don’t have to and I would say that most the “easy money” can be earned in GTSports offline modes.
  • I can’t speak too much for frame rate because personally I don’t care too much, but all seems great to me!
  • I’m a DS4 user and it feels amazing! Body roll is apparent and throttle/braking response is great. You may need to play with the sensitivities in the menus to perfect it to your play style.
  • Mileage points can be earned offline and are earned by driving... in unsure of how many miles equals what amount of points but they are pretty easy to get. They are redeemable for wheels, paints, cars etc. I believe the available cars will rotate but unsure at this point in time.
My opinions of course but I hope it helps!

You can get money playing offline but it certainly seems to be quite grindy in my opinion, Maybe it will improve with the next update (I hope)
Playing online seems to pay better if you can handle the dirty drivers and the waiting for sport mode races (I haven't tried lobbies yet)

Seems to be much better in my opinion, I have had some frame drops but they seem to be quite a rare occurence.

Personal opinion with a DS4 since I can't use a wheel for a few reasons, It's ok the handling is far from mind-blowing, The cars certainly have some heft to them but I just don't get a huge sense of feedback about what the car is actually doing, Something PCars1 was spectacular at (Again personal opinion)

It is the only place to buy GR3 roadcars/Safety cars, They seem to be rotated every so often to come back around, Also a few decals/wheels/paints/helmet styles, Mileage can be earned anywhere by simply driving (Or rubberbanding the oval) As its based on miles covered that's probably your best bet. I believe from my testing Mileage Points are approximately 10 per mile driven.

Hope that helps.

Alright, thanks a lot guys! You've all answered my questions, and I have to say I was expecting much worse news. I'll probably buy it. Again, thanks!

1. First things first. You must have a connection to save the game. You can't play with your PS4 "unplugged" from internet as Save is cloud based. Since update 1.06 you can do almost everything without a live connection, just need to be plugged to save.
Doing campaign mode you will get plenty of credits, mileage, and XP points. And if you are into Time Trials, even that gives you some few credits. Also, campaign mode gives you many cars as you complete the different segments and gold circuit experiences. Also, each day you drive a marathon distance (42.195 km) you get a gift car. Mind there will be duplicates, as the cars gifted are random, but will can get about a third of the cars in a few days without spending a credit.

2. Graphics are amazing, specially if you have a PS4 Pro. In a regular PS4 still great. Frame rate seems great too, but I'm not picky on that.

3. You must try motion controller with DS4, you can use tilting the remote do turn left and right, is amazingly smooth and precise, halfway to a racing wheel. FFB is very good too. But you have to realize GT Sport is kind a halfway between arcade and simulation and PD is still trying to get the physics right unfortunately, so the feeling isn't top notch yet (hopefully)

4. Mileage exchange points is the most important form of currency in GT Sport. You need credits to buy cars and nothing more. As explained, you will get plenty of prize cars, so you don't need to care much about it. Xp point are needed to advance level (only really needed to unlock tracks, until level 20 when you finally unlock Nordschleif, and a couple of trophies when you reach levels 15, 25, 40 and 50). Mileage exchange is used to buy upgrades, some special cars (every two weeks appear a new "homologation road car" and a new "safety-car") on the mileage exchange shop, rims, paint chips, racing suits and helmets. The price tag on the special cars, considering you only can to buy two every couple of weeks, is pretty low, no trouble there. The rest depend how much are you into upgrades and the other stuff. Every time you race you get credits, mileage points and XP, even in time trial (very low payouts in TT), in arcade races depend the difficulty level you set, the more difficult, the highest reward.

One thing to note is that you'll have to download roughly 15Gb in patches before you can play offline.
Or at least, I think it's 15Gb. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

1. You need an internet connection in order to save your progress, just a heads up. I honestly think the game is less grindy than older GT games (the last GT game I played was GT PSP). The game is quite generous with gift cars. You have a "daily workout" feature where you have to travel a certain number of miles and you get a free car. You get free cars for finishing x number of license tests. You get free cars for finishing the missions in the game too, and you also get good cash from driving school and missions.

2. The framerate is nice. Looks like a solid 60 FPS and I'm playing on a first generation PS4. I did notice lower framerates in replays (this is 60FPS on the PS4 Pro and 30 on the PS4) and the screen before you start the event, but that doesn't matter. Framerate is great, Polyphony knocked it out of the park.

3. Driving with a DS4 feels nice. I use the triggers + analog stick layout. Can't comment on how different cars feel in the game because I don't have enough time in the game yet. However I can't help but imagine how much more immersive and engaging the game would become with a wheel. Controller support is great

hope this helped!
