counter steering assistance is off but i still get automatic turning when trying to do anything besides drive in a straight line. i have all assists off and it still doesn’t help. i’ve looked at videos and other forum posts and nothing has helped. it makes the game not fun. i can’t drive the car when the game does for me. is there anything i can do to make counter steering stop.

I have the same problem. Do other people have this issue? I have no assist on and still the game counter steers for me when the car start to slide.

Playing on PS5 and I am using the PS5 standard DualsSense controller.

It's normal, it's something that they add in the game.

Bad decision.

For me, it's one of the reason why the driving physic it's weird with controller.

When you start to oversteer, you have the reflexe to counter steer, but the game already do it for you even you have all assist off, that result you countersteer too much and loose control of the car.

Thanks for the reply! That is exactly the issue I also have with the automatic counter steer.

I hope there will be an option to actually turn off all of the assist when playing with a controller.

It would most likely be unplayable with a controller without any built-in assists.

Have a peek in the physics thread and see what issues people are having with wheels when there are no built-in assists.

(I love it with a wheel, with no assists.)

Thats it.. You Hit the Needle on the Head.

Without this sudden Assists i think the most Players on Pad cant control her Car.

Drive some Races with Friends who use Pad and some who use Wheel.. follow them and take a look how the Cars move.

You cant steer so smoth with a smal Stick as eith an Wheel.

But you can be as smooth as a wheel with motion control.

Haha, nice joke.

GT6 and GT Sport didn't have this automatic assist and It's the best physic on the series. You can see it you do a 180deg e-brake with the inside view, In all old GT, the steering stay straignt, but in GT7 all assist off, the steering will turn any direction.

The controller today are not an on/off button, you can gage the trottle/brake and the steering easy.

I play most of my time in Assetto Corsa, Pcars and Forza with a controller and all these game didn't have basic build-in assist and there are all easy drivable.

Only GT7 do this and they messup the physic.

Yup, exactly this. It's already a disaster with a wheel and pedals. I can't imagine it being playable without extensive built-in assists on the controller where you have such limited steering and acceleration ranges.

I can show you some replay on some same race I do, and you see any difference between my driving with a controller and a steering wheel. And I'm not the only one like this.

I think everyone is in agreement here. It's terrible physics that's the cause of this. For one reason or another, it seems that PD ruined physics in GT7. It's already a disaster even with the more precise controls of wheel/pedals. So extensive hidden assists for controller players seems like that's the only way to make the game playable given the awful physics.

Many like the physics and find it very realistic and intuitive. The whiners aren't speaking for everyone, even though they like to state it as a well known and well documented fact.

I've been trying to figure out how to say the exact same thing for a while. Even if there wasn't auto counter steer assist the people with controller who know how to drive would still know how to drive. Drifters would go back to drifting regularly too 😂😂

The differences between how the controller works on GT7 VS the last 3 previous GT's is stark.

Video of controller drifters on GT6 for reference

I don't agree with the reasoning behind 'it would be too difficult without assist'. Just give an option to play without assist on a controller. From a technical point of view it seem that it would be relatively easy thing for the developers to add.

I rather lose control of the car (repeatedly 😃) because of what I did rather than have the assist on and the game driving for me.

People in the physics thread agree with you, that they prefer to play without assists even if they find it too difficult. But then they complain more in the thread than actually play the game and practice.

My guess is that PD wants to strike a balance between casual players and serious e-sport. They don't want casuals complaining about "broken physics" more than they already are - hence no option to disable it.
