Country ineligibility for DR/S

I've said this in threads a couple of times before, but now I thought it'd be better to post it in thread form. :)

I reached A+ driver rating about a month ago (currently just shy of 55k) and I've been thinking about challenging for the S rank in FIA. Before my PS+ subscription, which I'll be renewing in a bit less than a month, ran out two weeks ago, I jumped into an FIA race for the first time to see what it's like. I was able to hold my own and had a good race against our country's championship leader, who's in the same split. Now, I know one round isn't enough data to conclude anything, but with only 17 A+ drivers in all of Greece I figured my chances to contend for at least a top 10 finish in Nations (which meets the DR/S requirements) are pretty good.

However, I had never wondered why there were no S drivers in Greece. They can't all be boycotting FIA, right? Well, I went to the star player page on the GT website and checked the requirements again. Aside from the top 10 Nations / top 200 Manufacturers requirements, there is also a list of eligible countries, and sure enough, Greece isn't there :( So what's the reason for that? I know Italy had that problem in the past and PD made them eligible, so there must be a solution. Is the issue on my country's side or on PD's?

Note that I have no intention to participate in a live event because I play on a pad (and honestly even if I had a wheel I'd get owned anyway ) It's just that the letter S would look nice next to my name :P

Your country's. There must be some specific (likely competition) law that either makes it impossible or very awkward for PD to include your country. Or PD/Sony thinks so anyway.

There is no way Sony would just ban whole countries for no reason that's for sure.

A+ is, in the current state of Sport Mode, better than S imo. There are A and probably B DR ranked drivers who got DR S (it's not that hard... Compared to getting DR A+).

But you can't distinguish between them and the A+/S drivers in a lobby or in sport mode.

I was DR S and got A+ when the system changed. Been sitting in around 70k since then and DR S is unappealing to me.

Yep, that's what I was afraid of. Still wonder how Italy managed to overcome it though

Just get the GT Sport official phone app. A+ is still listed as ‘S’ on there because they never updated it.

Wow, that's true

Interesting. I think that as long as Nations has the same requirement for S, players in smaller countries like mine will find it easier to qualify for the rank since they're only compared to their compatriots.

If it’s only the S you are after and there’s no danger of you qualifying for a life event just create another account with a different county on.

I mean... I can do that, but then I'd probably have to grind that account up to A+ again, and I don't really want to be bothered with that :P
