Cpu compensate for low end graphics card

if i've got a cpu with 1.6ghz with an integrated 8mb graphics card, shouldn't the cpu compensate for the graphics card? This is my setup but I'm running at only at about 35 fps and wanting 50fps, is this normal or what?

I'll bet if you opened Task Manager -> Performance tab and left it open while you were playing, then looked at it, your CPU is already working hard. It does do some, but it can only do so much.

Quite honestly, 35FPS with 8MB onboard is pretty good.

Hmmm.. if you want better speeds buy a 30 dollar video card.. but make sure its agp, because if you are going pci its going to be the same speed.

If you want extra fps:
1. Clean your hard drive files out that you dont need
2. Close all those extra programs running in the background
3. Run 16 bit instead of 32
4. In your D3D settings, put the slider to blend.. its between High image quality and High performance

Should get you another 10-20 fps, but i think an aftermarket video card would be best

All but the cleaning of the HD may gain a few extra FPS. Best bet would be to buy a video card. Granted PCI will be slower, much slower, than AGP, it will still be much better than onboard, especially yours.
