Here's an idea that just popped into my head. What would your dream presidency look like? Who would be the President? Vice President? Cabinet? What issues would they fight for? Obviously, no administration would make everyone happy, but if this was all in your control, what would you make it look like?
Here's my ideal presidency:
President: Bernie Sanders. He's a proven leader who ran two successful, grassroots presidential campaigns. He's been fighting for the same progressive values since he became a politician in the 1980s, and genuinely cares about the common people and not being powerful or wealthy. I don't think much explanation is needed here.
Vice President: Richard Ojeda, 49 year-old Democratic representative from West Virginia. Fierce, tough leader, served in the Army for 25 years, also created a grassroots movement and doesn't accept corporate donors, very harsh policy on healthcare, supports unions/workers' rights. He basically believes in what Sanders believes in, so if Bernie were to die in office, we'd have a vice president who'd do what Bernie would do. Also, being that he's younger and from WV, this could help attract southern and midwestern voters.
And now for the cabinet. My ideal cabinet would be representative of America itself. It wouldn't be made up of mostly, rich white men, like Trump's cabinet. It would be diverse both racially and socioeconomically.
Secretary of Labor: Robert Reich, 74-year old economist and professor. Very harsh on corporatism, in favor of unions' rights and syndicalism.
Secretary of State: Sarah Chayes, 58-year old, Senior Associate of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the largest foreign policy advocacy group. She has vast international experience and strongly opposed the Iraq war and other middle-east conflicts the US has entered.
Secretary of Defense: Tulsi Gabbard, 38-year old former leader of the Army Military Police and presidential candidate, current Hawaiian representative. Very knowledgeable and articulate in regards to foreign policy.
Secretary of the Treasury: Joseph Stiglitz, 77-year old economist, public policy analyst, and professor, with a nobel prize in economics and over 40 honorary degrees, many of which came from Ivy League Institutions. Supports similar policies as Robert Reich, strongly opposed to multinational corporations and laissez-faire.
Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Tammy Duckworth, 51-year old current Illinois senator and former Army lieutenant colonel, combat veteran in the Iraq War.
Secretary of Justice: Larry Kranser, 59-year old District Attorney of Philadelphia, strongly opposes mass incarceration and paid bail, aggressive policy on police misconduct.
Secretary of Health and Public Services: Mona Hanna-Attisha, 43-year old doctor, professor, and the one who exposed the Flint water crisis.
Secretary of the Interior: Faith Spotted-Eagle, 72-year old Native American activist and counselor who organized the Dakota Access Pipeline protests and founded the Brave Heart Society, advocates for the preservation of Native lands.
Secretary of Education: Diane Ravitch, 81-year old former teacher, historian of education, public schools activist, helped develop the Common Core.
Secretary of Commerce: Ro Khanna, 43-year old lawyer, activist, and former chair of the Bernie Sanders campaign. Supports democratic socialism and strongly opposed the repeal of net neutrality.
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: 63-year old Jeff Merkley, junior Senator of Oregon, vastly contributed in writing legislation to solve the subprime mortgage crisis, wants to work with non-profit groups to incentivize urban renewal and new, high-quality affordable housing projects.
Secretary of Energy: 55-year old California representative who is a strong climate activist, helped write the Clean Air Act.
Secretary of Agriculture: 69-year old Denny Wolff, farmer and head of the Pennsylvania Dept. of Agriculture, promotes organic farming, and a crackdown on GMOs and unsustainable farming practices.
Secretary of Homeland Security: Luis Gutierrez, 66-year old Illinois congressman, supports immigration reform and an end to ICE.
Secretary of Transportation: Donna Edwards, 61-year old Maryland congresswoman and head of Maryland Dept. Transportation.

- Expansion of union rights, ending Right to Work

- Rent control.
- Crackdown on corporate corruption, workers' rights violations, and exploitation in developing countries.
- Close all tax loopholes and Cayman Islands accounts.
- Assault weapons ban.
- Universal pre-school.
- Abolition of ICE.
- Reparations to Black communities ravaged by poverty, drug-use, blight, poor infrastructure, and poor educational opportunities.
- Mandatory sick leave/family leave for all occupations.
- Withdraw all troops from Afghanistan.
- Abolish the electoral college.
- Overturn citizens united vs fec.
- Pass equal rights amendment
- Provide free contraceptives and feminine hygiene products.
