So, planning phase and part of building is finished, so I thought I will share a little, what happened until now.
I was planning to upgrade my wheel rim for a while now, so this is what I came up with.

I had a adapter machined from aluminium to fit on and over the original shaft.

The sleeve fits over the shaft to support from tilt on the wheel.

The plate is the support for the adpater to the wheel.

I drilled some holes in the adapter to reduce the weight a little.

That's how the package looks fitted to the wheel. I didn't decide yet if I will fit some paddle shifter, but I left the bolts long so I still have some options.

That's how the new rim looks fitted to the wheel.

Even the BMW emblem fits ;)

Part two are the wheel buttons.
I removed the PCB and and fitted it in the housing of an old router and routed the wiring out from the backside.
A few details are still missing, like the knob and decals, but here some more pictures.

That's it so far.
Project for the future is a holder for the button box, a hard wire mod for an hand brake and installing the vibration motors for FFB on the wheel rim, maybe also some buttons.

Updates will follow hopefully soon, hope you enjoy ;)

Looking great spike125 👍

I see the only thing you kept from the 'original' rim is the BMW logo :)

Thanks for the feedback, but still a long way to go till I finished my plans.
The button box was a little rushed, but still works fine.
HoiHman, the emblem had to be transferred, I have now also a shifter knob from a E36 M3 on my TH8 ;)

Nice work Spike. What size is the momo wheel, and do you notice any difference in the turning circle? Again Impressive work

I think made from tilton, as the dsd plates, this adapter could be sold.
But at the end you have to put so much more work in it, for wiring and so on.

@carson, the wheel is 340mm. Due to the increased diameter, the force you need to apply against the centering "spring" decreases. But due to the higher weight than the original wheel it has also has a more riged feel.
The turning circle remains same, as well as the turning speed of the wheel.

Thanks, I'm planning to do much more in the future, because there are still a few things missing e.g. hand brake, steering buttons and ffb motors.

Little Update, I got time to install the button box made from the original PCB

And the FFB motors

Everything still a little messy, but it works great.
I'm currently waiting for a steering wheel button board from DSD and then painting and final assembly can begin.

A little update, had time to route the wiring through the steering shaft, which eliminates tangle and I decided to take of the middle piece, which makes the assembly somewhat lighter.

Now I just wait for my DSD wheel plate and then painting and final assembly can happen.

Yes, 70mm.
If you want to make your own, I can give you the dimensions I use on mine ;)

So, finally got some time to continue working.
My next project on the rig is the handbrake.
I modified a TH8 with a new housing and a hydraulic shock, but have a look yourself ;)

Still looks a little industrial, but the rough work is finish, now only paint and a leather boot.

This is the housing i fabricated

The housing is with hinges, to adjust the angle of the handbrake.

The interns of the TH8 with the shock attached

And with the lid.

Will update again after painting, detailing and fitting to the rig.

Hope you enjoy.

That's damn awesome spike, seriously. Nice to finally see what it was you've been working on. :)

I'm going to get you that new SFA1 firmware this morning. Just gotta grab my coffee first :D

Thx, got it :D
I'll do some advertisement once we got everything working ;)

Small update, the TH8 is now working as a handbrake in FM4 and Horizon, thanks to the awesome support of MrBasher :D
Will post some stuff once the final assembly is finished.

Thx man ;)
Muscle memory works already great and the rig still has some room for a H shifter.
