Cultus Or Escudo

Somewhat good cars, but only for wall-riding. The purpose-built cars do a much better job, and I think it is because the Cultus and Escudo are sure-footed to combat the instability of dirt courses. In the meantime, the roads are more stable; therefore a car's manoeuvrability is not limited to the conditions during the race.

I Agree but the Cultus has far better handling on certain tracks (still road)
The escudo is purely for dirt drifting only.

Cultus FTW! Just because the Escudo is such a cheater car... In truth though, they're both an engineering marvel, dirt or asphalt alike.

Both are feels like nice cheaters.
imo,Escudo made as a "drag car killer".While the Cultus as a "tamed evil counterpart".
I like to use both cars to cruisin' on laguna seca under 1 minute

Yeah both are cheater cars, but you CAN beat the Cultus with cars other than Cultus or Escudo, so it's still less of a cheater car than the Escudo. The Cultus is also harder to drive (more understeer), so it still presents more of a challenge to drive than the Escudo. Finally, less people know about the Cultus, so it has a higher novelty value than the Escudo. For that three reasons, the Cultus wins my vote against the Escudo.

the Escudo is incredible, but I dont know about everybody else...the Cultus IMO has a better paintjob :D Cultus is just the tinyiest bit more managable too. But thats in the same way that the Mclaren F1 is only a tiny bit slower in the top end than a Koenigseggsegthingy CC - still stupendously fast :scared:

I prefer not to use either of them for road racing. Or racing, period (other than the actual Pike's Peak uphill events). Too much power; any race these guys can win can be accomplished with several hundred other weaker cars. 👎

So far as this thread goes, I can't really vote on it. The Cultus & Excuseo are both over-rated on the tracks, but I can appreciate them for their automotive ingenuity. They're not tin cans. They both "own", but in an overkill sort of way, so I prefer driving lesser cars that race with more of a competitive edge.

Hear hear PB 👍

If only they did proper races at Motorsports Land...that may be a track where the Cutup/Excuseo DONT have an enourmous advantage? Simply because its SO tight and twisty? 💡

I haven't driven Escudos at all in GT3 or 4. From what I understand, their handling is so bad in later games, they're not as easy to race on the roads, but some people still do.

Natch. GT3 is a nightmare, and the top speed is reduced when you add a turbo, oddly enough. In GT4, the rally circuits are more technical and therefore tricky, leaving little to no room for the Escudo. The Cultus would have been a better addition, but still almost as useless.

Good points well made. I guess without the Pikes Peak track, the Excueso's strength is negated, and because of the twisting nature of the other rally tracks, it is rendered null and void....until you want an ultimate top speed fix, and nothing else will suffice. THEN the Excuseo comes into its own. :D

I know! It boggles me why to this day the Escudo is so highly-regarded for racing despite its poor abilities. :boggled: Power aint everything. :ill:

Aah, but PB, for so many people, it is!

"Oh yh ma Ezcoodo got 1,000hp itz gowna blow ur skaylayne away maaaan!! Ohhh 🤬 how the 🤬 did that car get baay me?! Its got 500 less horsepowerz man!!"

Ive met a lot of people with that attitude. In fact, I used to have it - right up until I saw, in a historic touring car championship, a bunch of Minis utterly embarressing various muscle cars (Camaros, Mustangs, Falcons et al) at Silverstone. But its amazing how naive many people can be.
As one person (no idea who, enlighten me if you know) said, Power is nothing without control :)

I saw someone write that about the GT-One Road Car. The loser acted like he discovered it, and chirped the Viper guys because the TS020 can take 975hp... Sickened me, I tell ya.

 I'm the opposite..I'd rather take a Viper up against a GT1 prototype! :dopey:

what, u mean the Koenigseggegkenegonisogoenekosenoseningoegg CCX?? (Good ol' Top Gear...) lol... :D

 At the Koenigsegg jokes. But it's actually Koenigseggegkenegonisogoenekosenoseningoegg CCX (from Wiki :sly:).

Edit: why does the "o" and "e" appears separated?^ Formatting glitch?

Yeah I noticed that. It cuts off the final two 'gg's on my post as well.
Back vaguely on topic...Does anyone know the all-time fastest top speed ever achieved by anyone in the Excuso? Without hybrids of course.

I don't like either. They're good on dirt but their great acceleration gets kinda cut off. On the road their handling is terrible and they don't have a superb top speed.

Yeah, I hear that. They are so difficult to control on dirt - I remember being in an Excuso on Pikes Peak once and basically I wound up wallriding the whole way, I could barely control the thing. As for on the road, the fact its 4WD and got so much power going through all four wheels means that it is difficult to handle, suffers from a lot of understeer if I remember rightly?

If you mean absolute top speed, just break out of Motorsports Land and use the wheelie trick ;). If top speed on the Test Course, mine currently stands at 252 mph I think (without wheelie trick or slipstreaming), but I'm sure it could go a bit faster with proper gear tuning.

They're the utimate cheater cars! Clearly their handling is not terrible, nor is their top speed. Each to their own I guess...

I remember the first time I did one of the license tests that require you to drive a section of Pikes Peak in an Excuseo, I thought "This car is MENTAL!". I could barely control it back then and keep smacking into the wall at the first hairpin, getting the "FAIL You Crashed" message everytime .

It can be a handful if you're not used to it, but once you master it, it drives like a dream. Closest thing to an F1 car in GT2. If you keep pushing though, you'll end up with understeer (tons of it).

For a laugh, try putting SS tires front and Simulation tires rear on the Excuseo/Cultus. Presto! They instantly become drifting machines :D

I've done that already with the Escudo-it's really cool, but it's hard for me to keep that monster from spinin' out. :banghead:

I'm not sure what you mean by hybrids? I have gotten the Escudo up to 260+mph I think on the TEST Track. Turbos etc. It's been awhile since I played around with it though.

It IS hard to keep it from spinning out. My advice was intended as a joke lol. People keep complaining that the Excuseo/Cultus understeers too much, but just by changing tires you can actually make it overster more than a TVR Speed 12 .

Hybrids are cars with parts from other cars. So you can have a Civic body with an Espace F1 engine, etc. You can also raise the power to insane levels 2000+ HP). You need a gameshark to do this though. But 260 mph without hybrids seem quite right.

LOL That means you typed it everytime you turn on your computer? Hats off if you can memorize it .
