I recently discovered this curious little corner of Gran Turismo online Lobby racing, named 'CurryWurst'.
Public lobby races, 1 lap of the Nordschleife, in vehicles build to very specific criteria, (200kw (269bph) max power, 1130kg (2491lbs) minimum weight, and Sports tires (usual SS only sometimes SS & SM)). With such narrow specs the racing is surprisingly close, in a wide variety of cars, and (generally) very clean and fair, a nice change from the pushy unpleasantness of ‘Sport’ races.
These races seem popular, as there appear to be ‘CurryVWurst’ lobbies opened by many different users, with at least 1 open at anyone time during evenings and weekends.
Does anyone know how theses started, where the name comes from (I'm guessing after a popular snack at the Nurburgring?), and how the specs evolved?
Having raced these lobbies for the last few weeks, I often see many of the same names in regular attendance.
Following a bit of internet searching, and finding nothing, it occurred to me there doesn’t appear to be any community groups in any of the usual places (GTPlanet.net, Discord, Reddit, etc) where regulars or casuals meet/chat outside of the lobbies. Therefore, I thought I'd post this thread, perhaps as a starting point for ‘CurryWursters’ to meet, say ‘Hi’, share tunes and setups and, chat about the races etc.
So if you’re a 'Wurster',
