D1-Type thing in GT4?!

I'm not too sure, but I read someplace here on the fourms a while back that said something to the degree of a D1 type thing in GT4. I belive it was an interview someplace that was posted here..

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have any news about this, or any ideas of what it would be like?
 
Yah man, no prob. Check out one of the recent Super Street mags. The guy whos owner of Polyphony Digital, maker of GT4, said, and I quote,"there will be D1GP style tracks and cars in GT4, it might not be called D1GP, but there will still be a drift mode." Take care man, Drift on.
 
yeah, i was the one who made that forum. he said there are gonna be Drift comps. but didn't say whether or not they are gonna be online. but they would have to be stupid not to put them online:lol:
 
Mixed feelings on this one.

While it'd be pretty awesome to have a mode making it easy for new drifters to learn the ropes with help, it also sort of eliminates the feeling that drifting was a little something to be mastered, if the help goes so far as to do a little controlling for them.

Ah well. It'll be good, I'm sure.
 
I hope its more realistic. Better smoke and things. Possibly real skid marks, but I can't hope for it. all.:( But I hope its the same diffculty, just a thing where the AI drifts. I think..that would be..possibly the coolest thing in GT4.. BUT, I can't say for sure, since I havent played it..I don't think anyone has..
 
Yeah It'd be sweet for AI to drift.Imagine going on a touge run
against the AI :D .And in my game mag it said they will TRY
to have kits from GP sports etc..
 
next year im goin to be in the D1 i think i got the stuff too bad i missed this years drivers search o well just gives me more time to pratice
 
in recent Wired Magazine, there was a 4 or 5 page article on Drifting!
they had a whole section about GT4 and the drifting in it. how they're remaking the physics, because they didn't want the car to drift, because that's the type of car you have (like that cartoon looking racing game modellista?)
they wanted it to be REAL, but it's harder, cause it's not just acel, brake, and steering...
it's friction, and g-forces....
said something about when a car drifts in GT3, the programers call it a "miracle" :lol:
 
I must do a Touge run on Monaco or some new track in GT4 against an AI drifter..If they add the realistic smoke, and actaul skid marks..I'll be set for 5 to 7 years.. I'd just smoke the tires all day, leave my marks on the tracks..Thats the life.. :lol:
 
In SS the creator says the AI has been redesigned to be more lifelike. Meaning, the AI will try different ways to make you lose. Would'nt that suggest that the Ai might drift against you? They have also put in new tracks, including the Tsukuba Circuit where they hold some of the real life drift comps.

There was a drift track in GT2.

It was called "Motorsports Land". I think it was track 13 on the Arcade disk, on free run mode. I was pretty bumed when they didn't include any drift courses in GT3. (We do well enough on the courses that are there though.)

Any sort of "drift only" courses in GT4 will be a nice addition !
 
They said they might in this one game mag..I think it was "PSM" or something. But if they do have bodykits, I doubt there'd be a body kit for every car..
 
yea i mean if u think about it, they had to program 500+ cars into the game, it would be interesting to see if they would program 500+ body kits for the cars into the game as well. But then again, anything to please the consumer:D
 
Yeah, but you're also forgetting the how ever many odd number of older cars that ae domestic, in which bodykits dont exist for.
 
I read somewhere that the Race Version update thing is coming back in GT4, like in GT2. So body kits will probably be issued there. No idea tho, I dont have the game yet. I hope in the Drift mode, you can drift against the AI, that way you could make some sweet ass vids.

That would allow for some pretty tight videos.. I want something like they drift some corners, and you have to drift them with equal or better angle/smoke/control, -or- something where you twin drift with the AI. :eek:
