So.. why are we not allowed to tune our cars? Why are the races all settings set?

It was fun when I was able to tune the car to my driving and then now, cannot.. stuck with what ever GT says. Doesnt it take away from the value of GT, the ablity to set a car up as the driver see's fit?

Honestly I'm so let down by this game. They tried to make something new and competitive but they got away from what made gran turismo the best. There's no more challenging yet rewarding offline tournaments, the missions are quite easy with the exception of a few, the car selection is weak, there's really only like 30 cars and 3-4 variation of each. The original gran turismo had more cars..

Then there's the sport mode, a flawed penalty system that punishes the victim more then the aggressor, unable to tune your car.. What's the point?

How can you call it competitive racing when you can't adjust your car? Does that make any sense at all. Congrats PD, you are officially the worst racing sim studio these days

With a new race everyday, we hardly have time to practice and have a decent knowledge of the car and the track. Let alone time for setups...

I think it makes sense to allow setups if the races are weekly. With dailys, a lot of people won't enter them at all because if you don't have a decent setup, you can't be competitive even if you know the track.

I'm slightly frustrated by the current iteration of this game too. To me, it feels just like a run of the mill arcade racer in beta format.
Not my choice but as graveltrap says, no tuning appears to be what the masses want if you look at some of the polls that have been created :(
Sincerely hope this changes at a later date though.

The whole GTP ranted, when Daily Races werent't rotated daily, because you guys were "bored"... I prefered the 5-days-rotation because it left me time to actually practice the (then new to me) tracks, and set up my car properly. Also, your QT was good for more than fricking 24 hours.
OTOH, with setups allowed, everyone, and their moms simply would look up the top car, and look for a matching setup online. I think without setups allowed we see more diversity in cars.
I for one would seriously feel pigeon-holed into using one particular car most of the time.

Also, I'm sure they will change the Daily Races' settings regularly, and will mix, and match accordingly.

The problem is the execution. You could have new daily races being added every day, at first solely with practice being open for a day, while the older ones would move from practice only to race day. Perhaps even make it two or three days, but maybe the playerbase isn't big enough...
Basically a stream of events on a regular basis that would move up from stage to stage.

To tune your car for a track does not require that track to be on the Daily event.

Simply go to Time Trials in Arcade, run the car and tune on the track. Save settings for each track and then when it comes up in the Daily, you are set.

I personally do not mind not being able to tune the "fixed" single car events. That makes sense to me as then it is all about the driver and not the cars.

The only way it is all about the driver and not about the cars is if it is a one make, one model race with all tuning locked and all drivers racing the same equipment.

Any time multiple car makes and models are involved it can very well come down to the base settings some programmer at PD assigned to a particular car, does not mean that car in the real world is better or worse just what the base programming that is assigned within this game for that car.

There are reasons there is not a VW beetle racing real world in GT3 but in this game it passes V-10 Vipers down the straights.

Why can't PD offer us the choice to choose what we would like to participate in? Why do we have to have a tradeoff between spec and tuned?

Instead of limiting us to one type of racing, here is a novel idea. Offer more daily race content! Just add 3 more daily races open to tuning and those that prefer to tinker can congregate and find likeminded drivers. If after a few weeks another group drivers popularize a different format then add 3 more (like endurance series, drift cup, Sunday cup, MR vs FR cup)...and so on until GTS has tribes of drivers that specialize, just like the RL.

It's time to open up GTS and invite everyone, not drill down on one type of racing...how could a company launching an esport/racing community NOT understand this?

I don’t understand why cars can no longer be user tuned in daily races. They were permitted then inexplicably it stopped. Wouldn’t it make sense to have at least one daily race with tunings ? If there is any reason for this that ive missed, please explain.

I also want to know why they are doing this.

I don't believe PD made any statement regarding the change, but I'll speculate that this is a temporary measure while things are tweaked and rebalanced for online play. Of course this assumes that PD values the importance of tuning in real world race applications and therefore wants to represent this in Sport mode. If they don't, well, we've got bigger problems.

"The Real Driving Simulator, except for all the fiddly bits" just doesn't have the same ring.
