When asked about Daimler cars, most people would come up with Jaguar derivatves or the SP250, famous for it's excellent Edward Turner designed 2.5L Hemi V8.
Well, the DQ450 was powered by an equally excellent 4.5L version of that same Hemi V8, which was only marginally larger and heavier.
Rated at a conservative 220bhp and 283lb-ft (although evidence suggest it was a lot more powerful), the engine was capable of pushing the 4100lb DQ450 from 0-60 in less than 10s, and on to a top speed of 123mph. The DQ450s handling was also well received by contemporary roadtests.
A Jaguar Mark X powered by the 4.5L was reportedly capable of 135mph, but was not put into production precisely because of the better performance from the V8.
1180 DQ450s were produced, plus 864 8-passenger DR450 Limousines.

Facts:
4561cc Hemi V8, 220bhp, 283lb-ft (383Nm)
Borg Warner DG12 3-speed automatic, rear-wheel-drive
4088lbs (1854kg)
123mph
