Lots of car makers try to create a road-going race cars that can turn your face into a mush.
How about turning race cars into a road car instead??
Now I'm not 100% certain who performed the conversion, as this actual car was a back-up for Eddie Cheevers in Indy 500 in 2000. So the conversion took some time after.
This car is 100% road legal and was sold in 2007 to a private buyer.
Thanks to its vague beginning, it's nearly impossible to find out what exactly is under the hood - all I could find out was that race-spec 3.5 V8 was replaced by somewhat more humdrum Chevy small-block.
When it went on sale on eBay (of all places) it's minimum reserve was $85,000. Surprisingly, no one took a bite - failing to meet this paltry sum for what is effectively quickest accelerating road legal car at the time.
The tail says it all, really.
Here's the chassis serial number if you are interested: MVIV215746IND.
The over-enthusiastic eBay description says this monster is capable of "less than 2.5 secs" for 0-60 run, brakes work even when they are cold, and you need to be 6ft or less to...fit in properly.
The same description also states its horsepower is PLENTY and torque as LOTS - their words not mine. The car is said to weigh around 1100lbs so you may not need huge power after all.
As usual I'd appreciate if you got more info to add. Thanks!!
