Today, in my D.M.N.. they had an article on the Top 10 collector cars that they thought could retain their value over the next few years.

Even with a need for speed, you can brake for bargains.

As they say in L.A. - and Dallas - you are what you drive, dude. But Premier Financial Services of Woodbury, Conn., says consumers can drive smart even when they're making a flashy statement. The company has released a list of what it thinks are the Top 10 best luxury, exotic, and collector cars to lease or buy.
"The attributes that make a car an excellent candidate for leasing are the same attributes that make it a good vehicle to purchase - good resale and a good value," said Mitch Katz, Premier's president and cheif executive.
The company says these 10 vehicles (all with approximate prices) should best retain their value over the long term:

~2005 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster ($330,000) - Previous Lamborghinis roadsters have held their value, and the limited-production Murcielago should follow suit.
~2005 Bentley Flying Spur ($200,000) - Bentley dealers have a long waiting list for this car, and the factory can only build a limited number.
~2005 Ferrari F430 ($200,000) - Ferrari's newest model is selling for $50,000 to $80,000 over the sticker.
~2001-04 Ferrari 360 ($145,000 to $200,000) - The buzz from the 430 is pushing up prices on the last-generation Ferrari.
~1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Veloce ($30,000 to $35,000) - A fun-to-drive four-cylinder classic that many consider undervalued.
~1995-98 Porsche 911 ($30,000 to $55,000) - The last of the air-cooled Porsches and a model that many Porsche-philes view as the last true 911.
~1989 Ferrari 328 GTSi ($60,000) - Arguable the best-engineered of the 308-styled Ferraris and available with anti-lock brakes and air conditioning.
~1971-74 Ferrari 246 GT ($75,000 to $85,000) - Launched the mid-engine Ferrari evolution and a relatively affordable, significant Ferrari.
~1956-58 Porsche 356 Speedster ($110,000 to $115,000) - In today's hot collector-car market, these Porsches are setting records. The Speedster is the icon car.
~1968-69 Ferrari 365 GTC ($175,000 to $190,000) - A rare classic, the 365 represents a real bargain in the Ferrari world.
 
Those are all too expensive for me to afford. How about these more "regular" cars? I bet they will be valuable in 15 or 20 years.

GMC Sierra Denali with Quadrasteer - I dont think they sold too many of these, and the 4 wheel steer was only around for a year or two.

00-03 Honda S2000 - The small, psycho revving engine should draw collectors.

Honda Accord Coupe with a V6/6MT - Does anyone buy these things?

Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 - They sold so few, it has to be worth something....(yeah, right)

It was rumored (or so I heard) but I just checked the Honda website, and no, it is not availible.

Are you kidding? I see them on a regular basis and they're still around, in their fourth year (and now as a Club Cab as opposed to the 02-04 extended cab models). The real rare one is the 01 Sierra C3, which predated the Denali but didn't offer four-wheel steering.

In my view, it's between the XL-7 and the Dodge Raider for the title of worst SUV ever built. XL-7s are awful, horrible machines - absolutely insipid. Total ****.

Odd, I have seen a few C3s but only one Quadrasteer Denali.

I thought you said the early 90's 4Runners were the worst SUVs? :P

This is another rare SUV, but I bet it isn't holding it's value.

M5, how could you put XL-7 and Raider in the same category! You are talking about that rebadged Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero, right? How could you! :(
 
If i recall correctly, the Montero was rated the most unsafe SUV when the huge SUV rollever scare was going around.
