Damn, I'm really annoyed by the in-race save. Especially on Tsukuba. 👎

I started the Tsukuba 4 hours race one day after 2.00 was out, and as some of you people maybe know until today, there were some problems so that the game ended up driving automatically without me being able to do anything. Almost 3 hours of driving worthless! The save had worked two times before, but when I continued after saving the third time, I had that bug.

Yesterday, I was really happy when I read the description of the 2.01 patch saying that the "auto driver" bug would be fixed, so I started Tsukuba 4 hours today. After about 1 hour playing, I had to go out for some time, so I saved the race.
Came back after half an hour, booting up GT5 again, continuing the race. The driver drove through the pit without getting new tyres or fuel. So I drove one lap, entering the pit again. No window showing up, driver just drives through the pit. Tried to drive several laps, restarting GT5 and reloading the race, every time had this bug. Problem is that I saved when I actually had to do a pit stop, so the tyres were almost worn down completely.

In the end I left the race. Game saved this, but crashed when loading the main menu. ARGH!!!!!! :ouch:

I'm very angry now. Especially the endurance races, where you spend much time into driving, are senseless if the game has such dumb bugs! :yuck:

Anybody else having this kind of problems?

If you pause the game, hit the "PS" button on the DS3 (game goes to background, XMB pops up), select "quit game" and then start over, your save will still be there.

My experience, as written in my Tsukuba 9 Hours Race report:

SEVENTH STINT - From 7:45 to 9:00

Beforehand, let me state that last night I was faced with a prompt to update my game to version 2.01. And I had no idea about what would happen to my 2.00 Save if I tried o load it into a 2.01 game. Especially knowing that the pit glitch was one of the issues adressed and that my game was saved ... in pit lane entry.

So, I decided agaisnt updating the game, and remained offline.

Only to experience, for the first time, the (in)famous glitch. Can't understand why it happened, I had pitted exactly the same way as many times before, but this time no prompt popped up for fuel or tires, AI took the car for a drive though and handed it back to me. "Ok" I thought, the challenge just got tougher, I must have made something wrong and got a penalty for it.

So I did another lap, and pitted again. This time it became obvious that my game was indeed "glitched", this was no penalty. Because ... I kept control of the car in the pit lane. And of course, no prompt about fuel/tires showed up.

This second time I became really worried, I had almost 8 hours of driving behind me ...

So I paused the game, pressed the central button of the DS3, and in the XMB I quit the game.

Note: I'm not entirely crazy, I knew, from previous testing, that this procedure would allow me to resume the race in the previous saved point.

I loaded the game again, refused to upgrade it to V 2.01 again, and the race loaded one more time. And VOILÁ , this time everything went according to plan and I was prompted to choose the tires and how much fuel to add. Fewwwwwwwwww .... :dopey:

Yea, 3 times now. I give up, what a joke, seems like they've just changed what happens with the bug. For me, it just loads...the AI drives my miata around and around until it runs out of gas and completely burns out the tires, no matter what I do this happens. And I swear to god I practically came to a stop before I entered the pits to save. So agrivated! I'd have the race won, if all the time had added up.

I was happy and forgiving when I saw it was supposed to be fixed with the new update, so I start it again last night and it just does it again. Real glad I wasted 12 bucks on DLC for this buggy piece of ****!

same with me mate, also few times 1 hour in entered pit's and could'nt refuel,so waited for update and still same pit, save, when restart car just drives until it runs out of juice not going to attempt 24 hr le mans race imagine running for 18+ hrs and you get the bug would be really p****d

Yea I'm wondering if it only happens on Tsukaba? At this point if I do another lap on that damn track I'm likely to slash my wrists. Has anyone heard about it happening on any other tracks? Cause like andywill6 said, if it happens like 18 hours in to a 24 hours...I'll never play another GT game again, I swear

From what I've read around the net, this bug only seems to happen on Tsukuba. The pits are handled a little differently on that course and the pit lane is very small compared to the rest of the courses on GT5, at least from what I noticed. With that in mind, I think you may have to select the suspend option as soon as it appears to avoid the bug, but that may not even work. I completed all my endurance races, except the 24 hours at Nurburgring, before the suspend feature was implemented, so I've only used the feature on the 24 hours at Nurburgring and had no problems so far. 14+ hours in and no problems (except for the rain lol).

I would recommend that you back up your save file from your PS3's HDD onto a USB flash drive (or any other external device formatted to FAT32) and reload the save back the PS3 HDD if any problems arise. If the same problem occurs, then it is a bug that is occurring due to certain conditions (as well as many other bugs) rather than it being a random bug.

Slow it down. It has nothing to do with in-race saving.

I entered the pits at like 35 mph because I knew of this bug and it still happened. So yes, it is caused by the in-race save feature.

You know everything don't you? :dunce:

On topic, it hasn't happen yet, but when it does no big deal. It just means more fun racing 👍

We knew this could happen! :guilty:

I think it's because of entering the pitlane wrong. There's a small road at the final corners, that is the beginning of the pitlane, not the opening out of that corner.

I just did the Nordschleife 4 Hour.

And only saved 30 mins in didn't want to risk saving so i just paused the game.

I think PD should rewrite the whole game and give it to us free. The patches are not working for a lot of reasons. He should have finished the damn game before selling it. Money back and what he is selling now should be free!!!:yuck:

happened to me in the 3rd hour of the 4 hour race ,but i only pitted to save game still had over half a tank of fuel and good tyres
and laps ahead of 2nd
so i let the game drive for me, it went to the 4th hour finished the race and collected the money and prize
the last 20 minutes the car drove around slow with no fuel but still finished first

Yeah, actually you're right, but it's just demotivating if you drive and drive and get NOTHING in the end.

I get your point, but as I said in the opening post, I tried again and again to restart and reload the race, it didn't help anyway.

I agree with you, but the DLC has nothing to do with the save-function in the endurance races. :)

If you enter the pits too fast, you won't get tires and fuel.

Tried it, over and over again, at ANY speed. If I'm too fast, the auto driver doesn't enter the pit, I'll have to drive another lap then. But in most cases my speed goes under 'okay' and the auto driver drives into the pit at exactly 80 kph, so it's like always. It's a bug.

That's why players who unwittingly did an endurance race are made bothered to get themselves out of the race shutting off their PS3... Though I've never had a try on the races. I'd like to be careful in doing them hearing such rumors a couple of times.

We knew this could happen! :guilty:

Yeah, I think it doesn't show up a menu required for doing their pit stop operation which is indispensable for exchange of tyres, refueling to continue the race further, when entering the pit lane illegally from the opening out of the corner, it goes without saying that you have to pull over your car before coming at the last corner to be ready for pit stopping.
