Does anyone know if the PS2 version of the Game Shark has the "No Tire Wear" cheat on it like for GT3?I can't tell you how sick I am of losing races because the last lap I jamming out in the lead and boom All my tires are red and the car is all over the track. I know I need to pit but I know good and well the AI cars won't pit leaving me in 6th at the end of the race. No matter how hard the tirein GT3 and in GT4 I can run a hard tire but then the car acts like I'm running on hard tires by the atypical sliding in cornesr and such. What gets me is the AI cars still run the track as if on rails never ever pitting....:banghead: In fact it is the glitch among a few others that tends to blow the "simulation" out of the water. Every race car has to pit. Why me and not them:grumpy:

Calm down your driving; I've always been able to stretch my tires decently.

But why is this in the race reports section?

And to answer your initial question: The PS2 gameshark DOES NOT have the "No tire wear" cheat, nor does it have max cash or unlimited nitrous.

Work on tire conservation and pitting strategy.

The tires don't "Boom they're red and the car is all over the track" They wear gradually, if they wear like you say then it's your driving.

Mine does.

To take this thread to the next level (and correct forum)...

What's the worst thing for the tyres? What kind of driving style is required, etc?

Originally this was suppossed to havegone into the Game Sharksection, why it wound up here...I do not know.

I have tried driving conservatively, no matter what, the tires still don't last, Pitting strategy???? Pit at lap 4 in a 6 lap race and just see if the AI cars pit...bet theydon't. BTW when the tirse go red and the car drives all overthe place...well if you've ever driven on multiple flats, well thats how a rig behaves...

If the Game shak has that cheat then so be it..whatthe problem when in this instance it appears the game is cheating? Imeanyou know you are driving to save your tires when you drive in a manner that keeps them from squealing. Still, they go red at lap 5.

Pleas pardon typos, I am typing on a dinky little keyboard hooked into my laptop. My 18 year old daughter lieks to download viruses onto my desktop PC:mad:Can you say"stay the ****away from my computers fronm now on?

What kind of cars you're having issues with?
It's known the game engine is not perfect in regarding tire longevity, I've usually changed to tires that are couple grades down if better ones don't last long enough.
It's possible to beat AI cars that have S2 tires with N3 or even N2 tires, but I don't know how it works with racing tires..

So far its the racing tires that I have had issues with. What gets me is that if I have to racewith hard tires in order to make them last then why can't teh AI carseflect the same troubles I have with handling?

IOW. If I am running these hARD TIRES AND SLIDING AS A RESULT THEN WHY DON'T THE ai CARS BEhAVE THE Same way mine does. In this one aspect the game is pretty unrealistic.

In fact in GT3 it is bad enough tha I simply quit playing it. No matter how well I drove or preserved my tires it just wasn't good enoug

I totally agree, and it's stupid and cheating how the AI has unrealistically good "right foot" traction control and ASM.
They're always getting 100% acceleration out of their tires without the ingame TCS.

-edit-
whoops, it really shows I'm dead tired

The AI uses the computer to perfectly use their tires without ever going over the limit of grip. This lets them last a lot longer. If you drive so carefully that you never even squeak your tires, they will last just as long. I never had a problem with tire wear. Work on your controller inputs, like don't turn all the way, you almost never need to. Limit yourself with braking and throttle on corners. Try harder tires too. It's not the game, its you.

It's not enough if your tires aren't squealing at all, you actually need to brake with limited power, same goes with accelerating.
It's easy to push the car to it's limits, the real skill is to have patience to drive at 70% (for example) of what your car is able to (I probably wouldn't be able to do it, haven't done long/challenging enough endurances :D)

I'm well aware of this,In fact I keep from squealing on the take off, when cornering/braking, and just as importantly as you accellerate out of a turn:sly: In fact I have even found a way of braking using the brake like a clutch, that really slowse down fast, while keeping my Rs up so that I am ready to get on it out of the apex, all while keeping within the grip limits of my tires. The same way I was taught at driving school at Memphis Speedway 19 years ago while I was racing sports cars on the SCCA circuits. I kinda have real world experience with both low profile street tires such as Pirelliis and Bridgestone,m as well as the Hoosier racing slicks. I raced a total of three cars all in different classes. My car was 1980 Scirrocco in ITB...it was also my daily driver. I raced my Uncles partner's car which was a 1966 Corvair turbo in the GT3 class. and a freind of mine let me run his Formula Ford one weekend because he stepped in a hole or something while taking a leak on the side of the freeway while driving to the race track. He sprained his ankle and broke his foot:ouch::ouch::ouch: to this day I wish I could afford to race again and could get a FFord car...that car was a BLAST!

Although it is a simulation and will feel different than the real thing, this is also why I have spent days adjusting my driving style before asking others, if the cheat was there. In fact so far GT is the most realistic series of racing games I have played with the exception of the Race Driving Simulators they have...or used to at the Arcades...its been years since I have been to an Arcade. This is also the reason its maddening that my tires keep going to crud in the last lap of these relatively short races. After reading through soem of these posts I am beginning to think that the endless tire cheats may be a big wash out as well because if the tires never heat up....????:odd:

I'm curious -- what car were you driving in GT4 that gave you a hard time?

Pick one...As an answer to those who want to say its my driving I still have to retort that its the game. I recently bought and have started playing TOCA 3 and have not had the same problems. TOCA3 recognizes tire wear just like GT3 and 4 and the cars seem to respond in a more realistic manner to the road. Between the two games I can't pick a favorite as both have their strong suits. as for vehicle dynamics and behaviour TOCA nails it better, Gran Turicsmo has better and more vehicle choices and upgrades. I'll warn all those willing to try, TOCA's force feedback is a monster! Instead of being one to wish theere was a blend bewteen both games to make one I am glad to have both as individual games. It keeps you occupied. When you need a break from one you can go to other.
