I quickly looked but to no avail, I don't this has been posted yet in this forum (if yes, sorry mods, please delete this thread) but .... I just watched this a bit waiting to be dissapointed (I had heard that it was all a big flashy swords party).

But, to my surprise I really enjoyed it. More adult than "The Phantom Menace" (not a difficult achievement), more original than "The Force Awakens" (same). And may I say that both the actor portraying Darth Maul and the actress playing a Padawan do impressive acting jobs.

I watched it, the one thing that's nagging me the most is there didn't seem to be much of a set-up to the fight, like how did he get there.

EDIT: Never mind, I'd actually forgotten about the first few minutes of the movie.

Really well produced fanfic 👍 - i've seen much worse FX on some main stream big budget stuff.

The only thing that spoilt it for me was the bit where the two Jedis jump into shot like some am-dram stage production of Westside Story (2.55)

Pretty good. Rubbish sabre combat though. As always in Star Wars. Swish, swish, swish. That would get you struck by the point in a second every time. :ouch:

It wasn't too bad, the lightsaber battles have always been one of my least favorite parts about Star Wars so it didn't have much of a chance.

Deadpool would be proud of that superhero landing.

Saw this a little while ago and I absolutely loved it! I recommend seeing the behind the scenes video if you haven't already.

I know that most fencing duels are lucky to last a minute, but my headcanon is that lightsaber duels last longer than that because combatants are sort of guided by the Force in predicting their enemy's attacks.

Fencing's a very regulated sport. I doubt there's anyone alive whose actually witnessed a fight to the death sword fight. Our collective memories of how these things actually go down has been lost. Who knows how accurate the length of these fights are?

Not at all if you you assume one touch with an energy weapon would probably kill.

Luke had his hand lopped off and survived. Finn took a nasty one to the chest and we assume he lives. Didn't Rylo Ben take a hit too? A touch from a lightsabre isn't necessarily fatal.

Still. A fencing sabre can score with any part of the blade and Kendo is also possible. Both used to be blood sports before they became sports.

I wouldn't think a fight with light Sabres would be swish swish without you being struck by a solid thrust ending it quickly.
