So, I'm surprised a thread like this hasn't been done already (at least not recently). I know a lot of us like to take cars that are otherwise-innocent and put them up against bonafide sports cars in the Seasonals, for both comic effect and to add to the challenge of the events.

I'm wondering if this will catch on- I'll be sure to post my mediocre conquests for every weekly event release as long as I have the time.

Unlike the Stock Seasonals thread, this thread is more about having fun than any actual competition, outside of the events themselves; What are the rules? Well, there are none. Just take the least-powerful, smallest, or most-comical car you can think of and throw it around the current selection of seasonals. I expect most of the posts will focus on the beginner and intermediate level events; But, if you can manage something excellent in the expert-level category, have at it!

The cars and methods you choose to use are all at your own discretion. Be creative, give yourself a challenging race, and have fun!

Week 1: July 15 2015

Beginners level @ Daytona

Intermediate level @ Midfield

Expert Level @ the 'Ring

And, the previous weeks' Time trials.

Here's a few to start off. Unfortunately, none of my staple troll-cars work all that well this week, so I chose a small car at random and went with it.

The first race was a decent challenge, no matter what field I got. Drafting helped the little Mini make it's way past the NSX rabbit and I called it a day.

The intermediate level race was tough as well! This weeks' events are not the best for this little thread idea, and I'm currently a middling-average driver, so my own personal cars and times are a bit underwhelming. No Midget getting gold from me this week. But, it was fun nonetheless. I managed a second-place finish as the Viper hit the turboboost, as soon as I was within 1s of him.

Excellent thread. Good job with the Mini :D

I immediately threw the Volvo 240 GLT on the track. In a color that represents the great, cream yellow 850R (SHAME on you PD for once again not including that one in the game )

Daytona, just make sure to put the gears up:

Midfield was fun. Should be able to win, but in the final lap I took the corner just before the last tunnel/little chicane way too fast, ended almost backwards and blew it. But still a nice and smokey ride.

Won't do the expert level at the Ring with the 240, it would humiliate the opponents too much.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
1m24.481 - 5m59.904 Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance '12 - SH - RR - 422BHP - 2018KG ( Best AI Vehicle - Alfa Romeo 8C - 5m59.960)
(ABS=0/TCS=0/ Engine note=0)

This was a stock car, but look at the weight - 2018 of your finest French Kilograms.

And forget that 422 brake horse power, when you are high in the rev range...the power drops off the cliff and you barely get more than 200. - You get all the porky weight all the time though.

A very oddball car that was tough for me to get to grips with the Racing Luxury Library. - No sound and a gearbox full of 9.73:1 cogs

Not sure if you heard, but it was just recently in the news that they added another "driving mode" to the model S in real life- so now you have both Insane Mode, and the new Ludicrous Mode. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried, lol. Would be interesting to see how that makes a difference in the game.

Congrats on qualifying in the Stock seasonals with it... and props for the creative thinking :D

I went for the '79 Autobianchi A112 at Daytona. I had to spend quite a bit on upgrades and the PP was closer to 450 than I'd have liked. With a bit of drafting it would get up to 150+ MPH, but it took several goes to get the win as the AI spaced themselves into groups such that there was a big gap between them that I had to try and cross.

For Midfield I used the '71 Mustang Mach 1, somewhere about 480pp. Maybe not much of a 'David' in the context of this thread?........

460pp 350hp Volvo 240 could only get me to 3rd on midfield

i looked at the specs... the wagon weighs 1,875kg standard? I dont think so. Thing barely weighs 1,4 ton.

Don't sweat the details..just remember, "What are the rules? The are NO rules" ;) Extra points for ridiculousness, though, so maybe some pics of the Mach 1 completely sideways at the bottom of the hill at Midfield, for example. lol.

Throw some parts at it, that always helps :D

On another note, like I said in the original post, they actually made the events just a bit more hot than usual, so the more-spirited cars in the context of this thread won't compete as well this week. Give it awhile and I'm sure PD will throw some cakewalk events our way once again.

Aids off and bang those vain sports cars out of the brick stone's way :D
But you're right, should be 1,3ish ton

I tried my Mini Marcos at around 430 pp in the Daytona race but just watched p11 disappear into the distance :dopey:.

I did use the Stagea and Legnum for both races, but I'm not sure they qualify for this thread .

I'm sure there are a few 'beauts' in my garage I can dig out...

I thought this was somewhat in the "spirit" of the thread.

I managed to finish 4th in the Expert Seasonal at the Ring with the 1970 Toyota 7. A more skilled driver might finish a little higher up but I doubt this car can win due to its lack of top end speed. (loosing position(s) at the Dottinger Hohe section.)

After reading your post, I thought I would give the Toyota 7 a try (since I've already tried so many cars in this Seasonal).

After six aborted attempts and one full attempt where I came in second,:grumpy: I was able to win the Seasonal race with a race time of 6:27.581 having a margin of 1.395 seconds over the Minolta Toyota.:)

The Toyota 7 surprised me with how well it performed on 'Ring!

It does lack a little top-end speed as you say, so you can't expect to pass anyone on the Dottinger straight, but it does a decent job on the rest of the track. With a little more practice, I think I could knock another second or two off my race time (this would be subject to the AI cooperating when I drive past them). I was running my Toyota 7 with the max allowed PPvalue of 700.

Good luck if you give this another try:cheers:

Great job! 👍 I agree the car is fairly competitive everywhere but the long straight (it is also a tad slow accelerating out of the corners so you have to complete the pass on corner entry) I only managed to complete it twice "clean" and I kind of ran out of patience with the unpredictable AI. I had fewer problems with the AI when the Delta Wing was not in the race.

After winning the Expert Seasonal race with the Toyota 7, I checked my garage for a more challenging drive, and happened to glance at the Nissan garage, so I took a look at the 2015 Nissan GTR LM.
The Nissan GTR LM is a little under-powered, but its fast on the straights, so why not give it a try.💡

After an oil change my Nissan GTR shows a PPvalue of 663:nervous:

After many, many, many attempts:banghead: (marred by my own driving mishaps and marred by the inconsiderate AI cars), I finally put together a good race and take over the race lead going thru Eiskurve (by passing the AI's Toyota 7), and then immediately throw away the lap by losing control of my Nissan GTR LM going thru Pflanzgarten:ill::irked::(

Arrrrrrrg!!!:ouch:

I need a break!

I will try again tonite, because I think I can win with the Nissan GTR LM, but there is not much time left for this Seasonal.:scared:

My Evening update:
------------------
I'm back at the 'Ring with my Nissan GTR LM, and after a few attempts to re-gain an understanding of how to drive the Nissan, I run a 6:31.291 race and come in 2nd place just 0.597 seconds behind the Minolta Toyota. So close! Two more aborted attempts and then I run a 6:28.570 race and beat the Toyota 7 by 3.733 seconds and win the race!!!:) :)

Finally!!:)

After the race, I check my Nissan GTR LM and see that I've driven 161.7 miles! All of these miles were recorded during my many attempts to win this Seasonal with the Nissan!:dopey::ill: It was a pretty hard race to win having to both battle the AI and my many driving mistakes. The Nissan GTR LM is not the easiest car to drive. It has too much understeer and is very sensitive to running over the curbs, so I had to learn where I could push the Nissan hard and where I needed to back off and wait for the next straight before going full throttle. Quite a workout!

See you on the 'Ring!

Not sure if you can troll 400pp AI, but the tiny Mini Marcos seemed to upset the rabbit at Willow in his big old Clio.

I was on stock power and CM tyres but he was no match in twisties even after nudging me on the first sweeper of lap 3.

Session 2

400PP A-spec Beginner Level Compact Car Challenge: Streets of Willow Springs

450PP A-spec Intermediate Class French Car Challenge: Deep Forest Raceway / Reverse

600PP A-spec Expert Level Group GT3 Car Challenge: Laguna Seca [Mazda Raceway]

...And the previous week's Drift and TT's

Here we go, only 2 weeks into the D&G thread and we get a gold mine of events for this theme :) Between the beginner and intermediate events, there are nearly limitless possibilities for some very interesting and comical bouts.

Here are some that I played around with today, after spending another week playing some other non-driving game and not getting my sign-in bonuses:

Beginner @ SOWS

I've never driven the Streets track, so this was both a learning experience and enormously fun. Taking a wild guess, I thought that you could probably take nearly any car under 400PP, and with moderately-ok driving, whip it around fast enough to win. Imho, even if you're not fast enough, you could probably cheat almost any car in the game to the finish in 1st place due to the open track layout, although I stuck to the track.

It makes you wonder why they even allow for SRF, tbh.

So anyway, I went with an old favorite from the bygone era's of GT, the Subaru 360 '58. Replete with hot-pink tiny wheels and an interesting paint job, this thing is a little RR beast in the right hands... and oh-so-enjoyable to throw around this perfectly-matched tiny track. Even with the worst possible gearing, I managed a 1st place finish here.

And, even with the limitless possibilities of that first event, trolling the intermediate was perhaps even better- and more challenging.

Intermediate at DF reverse: Taming the French Fry

Sticking with the tiny RR chassis theme, I went full-Renault on this one. Gah, so many cliche jokes to make about French cars...but suffice it to say, the field was about 1/2 cool, cute French classics...

20150730_133500_resized.jpg

And the other 1/2 was the stereotypical, boring modern french cars. In fact, I nearly fell asleep waiting for them to group up for a photo, so I didn't get one. And if that wasn't enough, we get a modern, forgettable Peugeot basic-transportation convertible as a prize car. Can you say "Maniac!!" ?

My voiture de la journée was the extra-silly Renault R5, hopped up with only a 1980's F1-style high RPM turbo, meaning that because of the tendency for this car to only want to drive backwards, the wheels were either spinning or barely moving at all and sideways. If I had to nominate a car in GT6 that was best at driving in any orientation other than "forward" it would NOT be the Lancia Stratos...it would be an R5. The guys who rallied these must have had big brass ones, man.

Anyway, because of this, and a lack of driver aids, and a lack of stick time, AND the fact that once again, this was my very first time on Deep Forest Reverse... I crunched at the same corner no less than 3 times...in a row. Laps 2, 3, and 4.

I still managed to smoke my way (heheh) to victory, with very few errors on the rest of the course (just a lot of needless drifting), and claimed my shoddy Peugeot prize car. Merci, sil vous plait :D

Be sure to show us YOUR fun times this session! Post your results here, and once again, abide by the only rule...there are no rules. Have fun :D

Subaru 360 :D

I took another car, built for speed, the stock Nissan Cube (its shape will inspire designers of 22nd century prototypes).
312PP so needless to say an easy win, but I almost have as much fun throwing these things with screaming tyres around tracks, as the normal 550+ PP races. A totally unknown track to me too, so don't mind the time

Guess I jumped he gun with the Marcos post :dopey:. Good one @JR_Lebowski, I could only manage fourth with a stock Cube.

In the French race I tried a fully worked 2CV but it truly was l'escargot. Still, a worthy fourth place - and it owned the AI in the twisty section.

For victory I went to the other end of the troll spectrum with a stock Avantime. Weighing in at 1700Kg it really worked the Comfort Soft tyres. Pretty good handling though and the head rabbit made a bit of a come back towards the end.

Edit

400pp Willow Springs - the good old Honda Z on comfort soft was good for the win over a 98 Civic. He was close coming in to the final section but was no match for direction-changing abilities of the super lightweight Honda and I won by over 1.7 secs.

Well, funny you should say that. Once I won the race in the traditional fashion and collected my car, I thought I would test the boundaries of the track. Not that I promote or condone such behaviour, you understand....

At one point (while in about 4th place) I drove through the cones onto an out-of-bounds (yet paved) section (at Turn 11 I think) that took me directly back to the start/finish straight. Lo and behold the "wrong way" symbol flashed up and I was immediately demoted to last place!

I tried another short cut just before the top corner but before I reached the other side, the game unceremoniously dumped me back to where I left the track!

Seems PD have cottoned on to these "flaws" in the game that allow unscrupulous people to cut corners to gain advantage...;)

I won the deep forest reverse seasonal with a fully upgraded but barely tuned 2CV. It was a good amount of work, but smooth driving prevailed in 9:03. Funny thing is I have only managed second in the French car seasonal with it which is a lot closer to the pp range of the car.
