I'll get a thread going for this, although I realise it won't be the most popular. This event won't be for everyone.

Like the race says, American Muscle - on N3s, 600pp only. Every 10 min looks to work fine.

This one is very different from what we've had in GT5P to date. Its the previous oval events written Hardcore, with a serious look at that style of driving.

With 600pp on N3s at 300kph, its about subtlety, balance, delicacy of grip and keeping your inputs smooth. Not reflexes.
And a good tune definately doesn't go amiss. 👍

Well I've started the thread. Hope to see at least some of you there.

This could be a good event, but there are some issues.
The concept of big horsepower cars on N3's is great.
In the hope that someone at PD reads this, here are my observations;
a) Races too short (around 5 mins). With a rolling start, there is no chance to start last and catch the leaders.
b) Wallriders have a field day.I've seen a guy win a race by driving flat out everywhere, riding the walls, taking the penalties, and making faster progress than people driving properly.

So please can we have;
10 laps minimum (20 laps would be great).
Proper penalties for touching the walls - 20secs should do it.

Having said all that, I still enjoy the circuit, and the cars. Just need to have the ability to ignore the cheats.

Good racing with you this morning. 👍

I was doing some testing. Will be back there in about 7 hrs.

I'm wondering...when are the skilled PAL drivers going to show up at "dirty Daytona"? I've been racing there for what seems like 2 weeks and have yet to meet anyone but wall riders and punters. Not that the wall riders bother me all that much. Imo, they don't count. As for the punters, once you get by them it's no contest. When do the real racers show up? Am I asleep when this happens?

The dirty antics conducted at Daytona Speedway cannot be the choice strategy of an entire region of GT racers. Can it?

If you witness clean racing at Daytona Speedway or notice someone fast and fair, please note the time, wake the kids, call the neighbors and post up so others can get in on one of these rare gems.

You've pretty accurately expressed the frustration of this event. I've certainly grown bored with it. The good races are just too few and far between to make it worthwhile. Including you and DukeofPendle I can still count the good clean racers I've come accross on one hand.

I know there are other GTP oval racers out there. I suspect they've shown up, taken a look, and left.

I think the biggest failure here is that PD seem to have nobody on their team who plays the roll of 'Cheater'. Seriously, how hard would it have been to work out you can easily win by wallriding, and put the right penalties in place to stop it.

All the oval events have suffered from this to a degree, but the tyre choice of this event makes it by far the worst.

Unfortuately I suspect good oval racing won't materialise until the mythical, ever promised, private rooms arrive.

You pretty much sumed it up, When it first started I gave it a few trys but way too many jerks at Daytona.:grumpy:

Wow! Just had some fantastic battles with French and Spanish drivers. Me in a Viper GTS and a field of GT's. Very nice messages recieved afterward.:)

What a nice suprise. Get on now if ya like it clean.
