As of this morning (Thursday 28th June) at 4:00am I am starting a 200 point A-spec 24 hours race :)
Yes I am doing the Circuit de le Sarthe I.
I wont be taking any breaks at all. (except for writing this up in notepad)
But I am not doing it in any ordinary Le Mans Car.
I am doing it in..
A Nissan Fairlady Z Concept

The Grid is as follows:

Bentyley Speed 8 '03
Sauber C9 '89
Nissan R89C '89
Pescarolo C60 '04
BMW V12 LMR '99
Nissan Fairlady Z Concept '02 (me)

It is a 200 point race so I shall see if I can win with this unlikey car,
Should be challenging & rather fun but still.. :nervous:
Lets begin!! Dead on 4am :sly:

Hour 1
Lap 1 - Every car LEFT me at the start!
I dont think this is going to be that easy to be honest. :scared:
A quick dive on the OUTSIDE of the Pescy seemed to work though L'Arche chicane,
Until he went past me on the straight. :ouch:
I got him back at La Floirendiere :]
He tried to get me at Mulsanne but he just couldnt make it stick!
I gained a few second lead on him.
Nothing else happened untill the Porsche curves when I felt a bump on my bumber, The Pescy was back?!
I managed to slide up on the outside of the start of the Ford Chicane & I passed the BMW :]
I was proud of that monuever wheel to wheel throughout both parts of the chicane.
Next up the Bentley.
After following the Bentley through both the Dunlop & the Esses I slid up the inside & took him through Tetre Rouge.
No doubt he'll breeze passed me on the straight though..
The Next few moment see me battle it out with the Bentley & the BMW.
By Lap 3 I had reached the 2nd placed Nissan, A look up the inside of the esses didnt work too well..
After a nice slipstream down the straight I over took him & flew through L'arche!
The Sauber was now 5secs in front I could barely see him!
I ended up getting within 2 secs of him towards the end of the lap but I screwed up the exit of the ford chicane & I went in to the wall..
It cost me 5secs!
Trying to get back to the Sauber meant I was pushing a bit too hard as I went into the gravel pits a bit to often,
Although the overall speed was alot faster IF only I wouldve kept it on the black stuff..
Lap 6 the Sauber had took a trip round the oustide of L'Arche letting me get into his slipstream!
I decided to stay behind the Sauber becuase then my pace wouldn't eat my fuel/tires so I stuck behind him.
It was harder said than done..
Although it was helped when he kept flying onto the dirt!
He pits the same time as me! On lap 7 So does the Nissan (just a while behind thats all)
I decide to take on the Hards rather than Supers as my tires were yellow by the time I needed to pit.
I rejoin in 3rd behind the Sauber in 2nd & the Pescy in 1st (WTF?!)
I pass both the Sauber & the Pescy down the straight into the Indy & then the Pescy takes me round the outside of the Porsche :embarrassed:
Good driving by the AI on that one :]
Thankfully the Pescy pits that lap (aswell as the BMW) & I go on to lead lap 9 by 4secs (first time this race)
Completely forgot about the L'Arche chicane though & SLAMMED into the tyre barrior!
Now the Sauber is rite on my ass! He even over takes me.. Grr.
Oh well I'll stay behind to save fuel as this car loves petrol :|
Lap 10 & the Bentley pits! I love that car soo much
Being behind the Sauber I've noticed it goes wide alot!
So I decided to overtake the Sauber with a rather boring pass on the straights..
He just went wide too much to draft really.
I manage to stay infront & gradually gain an advantage mostly 1 secs a lap.
By Lap 14 I had a 4 sec lead & I needed to pit again (damn my poor fuel consumption)
The Sauber had to pit on the same lap anyway

First hour has finally passed 2:44 into lap 17, In 1st with the Sauber 6secs behind.

Hour 2
Another stupid mistake thanks in full to someone ringing my phone which shocked me so instead of breaking for the Mulsanne I forget as I was too busy trying to figure out what was making the noise!
So I ended up having to pause find out it was only my mate asking what I was doing.. Waste of time!! Switch of your phone before you race..
So yeah I lost about 10 odd seconds trying to get out of there.. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
The Sauber got back infront of me by about 4 secs.
Lap 21 needed to pit again with the Sauber in front again.
Tried pushing to get back with the Sauber but I didnt have the grip I wanted & I went wide costing me another few secs.
So I decided to slow the pace down & I get back into my steady yet consistant low 3:30's
Which is about 1+secs a lap faster than the Sauber. :sly:
By lap 27 I was rite up behind the Sauber yet again about 0.5-1.0secs behind.
We both needed to pit I got in just behind him but I think my pit took longer as he left ages before I did.
By this time we were already miles infront of 3rd place even with our constant fighting for position.
I think the Pescy & the Nissan are fighting it out for 3rd & 4th with the BMW not too far behind & the Bentley probs in 6th cause I think I saw him off the track last time I saw him (first few laps)

Second hour has passed 2:03 into lap 34, in 1st with the Sauber 0.7secs behind.

Hour 3
Lap 34 needed yet another pit with the Sauber rite behind me!
Yet he managed to slip passed me in the pits!?
Why are my pit stops slower than the others =[
Ahh well, gives me more fun out on the track I guess..
Although passing the same car over & over is getting a tad bit annoying to be honest.
Yet I do it again :] With an amazing pass side by side into Indy & still side to side into Arnage I had the oustide line but I managed to force him to take too much curve & it slowed him down.
So now I am back infront lapping slightly faster than the Sauber again.
I might try putting some Mediums on for the next little stint to see how much easier it is to go faster than my fastest 3:28.671
Although I dont think it will harm my Duration as the tires are just about yellow ish on Hards.
Lap 42 I pit again with the Sauber about 2secs behind me, He stays behind me aswell!
I am trying the Mediums!
Already I notice a difference in the grip!
Lap 44 I beat my fastest lap with a 3:28.063
I am fair few secs infront of the Sauber now about 4 secs!
Lap 45 I manage a 3:27.875!! :sly:
The tires are starting to degrade ALOT now!
5 laps on them & they are starting to get a horrible yellow/orange colour..
I must stay out for 7 laps though, the Tires arent fast enough to do 6 laps on..
Lap 49 the tires have started losing all their grip at the moment..
I'm struggling to keep this car on the track!
I lose it through Indy & fly off the side of the track!
A 175mph 180 spin into the tyre barrier :ouch:
Loses me about 20 odd seconds & as I try getting back to the track I see my 1st turn into a 2nd as the Sauber goes past..
The tires are now red. They may as well be balls of molten lava because thats what they are handling (& looking) like..
Porsche Curves are not fun with these kinda tires! The back swung out again, this time at only 115mph ish.
Yet it still cost me another 10-15 seconds.. :banghead:
This lap was a disaster.
I finally get back to the pits some 50secs behind the Sauber (with still not sign of 3rd&4th how far back are they?!)
Anyway back onto the Hard tires for my Nissan..

Third hour passes more-a-less on lap 51, in 2nd >_< with the Sauber 54secs infront..

Hour 4
Lap 52 sees me Lap both the Bentley & the BMW.
Not far behind the Nissan & the Pescy now :]
But still far behind the Sauber.. I cant beileve I lost 50 secs!!
Still not to worry I have 20 hours left.
I get into pattern of doing 3:28-3:29's which gets me about 2secs a lap back on the Sauber..
So with my calculations if I can keep that up I can be back with him by lap 70 ish..
I lap the Nissan on lap 55!!
The Pescy has quite a lead over the Nissan as I cant quite see the Pescy yet.
Never knew the Pescy was that fast!?
After lapping the Nissan I have to pit..
Grrr!
That means I will probably have to do it again..
Yay.. *goes to kick the desk!*
I managed to pass the Nissan in the pits..
Now I get to enjoy the thought of passing the Pescy..
Lovely little Mulsanne pass up the inside on lap 58 gets the Pescarolo =]
In all this hour has been pretty much perfect!
Its been constant laps between 3:29.5-3:30.5 Nothing either side..
Not bad for an hour really :]

Fourth hour passes while on lap 67, in 2nd still.. With the Sauber 15secs infront.

Hour 5
Lap 68 I lap the Bentley again, (bentley's arent that fast in the AI hands are they..)
Lap 69 I pit again now only about 10secs behind the Sauber.. I am cathcing up :]
By the end of these tires I WILL be back on the Saubers bumper!
Just you wait :mischievous:
Lap 75! I get back with the leading Sauber! Wooooo!!!
It took me over an hour to get 50secs back.. Great. I could be 50secs infront if it werent for that bad tire choice.
OMG!? The Sauber just left me by about a second when I did a 3:30.
So the Sauber must have done a 3:29. Sheesh if he can go that fast why doesnt he. :/
It would be more fun if he did aswell as more challenging for me!
Grrr stupid AI let him go 3:29 more often.
Lap 77 I pit with the Sauber about 2secs infront (which will grow as he pits faster)
I get out of the pits a full 4secs behind the Sauber,
That will be gone before lap 80. (I hope)
I manage to stay with the Sauber until we pit on lap 83.

Fifth hour passes while 1:14 on lap 84 in 2nd, behind Sauber by 1.4secs

Hour 6
During the pit I ran to get a pint of Coke & a Baguette to have while I'm racing this hour.
Thankfully theres straights to eat & drink on =]
Still keeping up with the Sauber & trying to save some fuel to push for a 8 lap pit rather than a 7 but I dont think it's ever gonna work,
This things too thirsty.
I'm sure in the Real Le Mans races cars dont pit every 7-8-9 laps do they..
Why is this part of GT4 so unrealistic.. (I shalnt rant this is not the place or time to do so)
Lap 89 After going into the pits infront of the Sauber by 0.4secs I leave the pits about 1.2secs behind..
So he must take about 1.5-2secs less fuel than me..
I take on all 80 so I will try & figure out what the hell is going on cause I am rather baffled..
Getting close to the Bmw & the Pescy now :]
I guess the Nissan has overtaken them both or I missed him I dont know..
The Pescy & BMW are running together at the moment..
First up is the BMW on lap 93.
I gave him the old inside at the Mulsanne treatment.
Although going into Indy he didnt break at all!! Well it seems like it,
I went wide & got a bit of gravel but I collected it back nicely.
Only cost me about a second or 2 but the BMW flew straight past me!
He ended up slamming into the Pescy (poor thing) & the Pescy went spinning off into the tire barrier.
Rather fun to watch though but shame on the BMW for knocking the Pescy off!
Ooooh, pitstop again on lap 96..
I've calculated the Sauber is running between 60-70 of fuel.
Is that even enough for a 7 lap pit?
I use about 10-11 per lap.
BMW & the Pescy unlapped themselves..
Both pit on my lap 98 (there lap 96)

Sixth hour passes while 1:35 on lap 100 in 1st, infront of the Sauber by 5secs!!

Hour 7
I havent really talked about my battle with the Sauber much recently.
Too busy talking about food & lapping people.
After the pitstop on lap 96 I got bored of being behind the Sauber & decided I was going to try & lap the damn thing!
Cause I know the Suspension/chassis starts to go a bit crap in 24hr races.
So I'll need a lap or so cusion before this time.
I am back into my steady 3:29-3:30's gaining a good second or 2 each lap :]
Lap 103 I am back in the pits again, with the Sauber nowhere to be seen!!
The Pescy somehow manages to unlap himself while I'm in my pitstop.
How cheeky! I didnt know he was that close.
Aslong as it isnt the Sauber I dont care though =]
Relapped the Pescy through Tetre Rouge! I seem to be uber fast through there compared to any other car..
In the pits on 110.
This hour seems pretty boring to be honest..

Seventh hour passes while 2:04 on lap 117 in 1st, infront of the the Sauber by 20secs!!

Hour 8
This hour seems as though it will be boring too unless I make a huge mistake somewhere.
There is lovely fresh clean air infront of me for about 75% of the lap!
So I dont think I'll be puttin much this hour..
Unless I get more food next pitstop
Lap 124 & I am pitting with rather a hefty margin over the Sauber now.
Its a good 30 secs.
Although I wish my fuel tank was bigger, My tires are yellow not orange,
They've still got a lap or 2 in them..
Still nothing infront of me..
The whole of the Mulsanne straight is clear..
Not a car on there when I am.
I think the Sauber is having problems with the BMW & the Pescy as those 3 are together.
I dont have a clue what the Nissan is doing..
I think the Sauber is past the BMW but not past the Pescy yet.
All good for me!
Pescy is slowing the Sauber down :D
👍 to the Pescy driver :)
 Gutted! The Sauber just pit & is now behind the BMW again,
This is working out great for me!
Although it wont matter becuase when the BMW & the Pescy pit the Sauber will leap frog the BMW for sure hopefully not the Pescy though..
They are in the pits.
I hope the Pescy is out infront of the Sauber..
YES!!!! :D Thankyou Pescy you are my saviour!
My pit now on lap 131.
Quick splash & dash, then I'll be thrashing the corners again!
& I'm back out with no one to lap or pass..
I feel so lonely.

Eighth hour Passes 50secs on lap 133 in 1st, Infront of the Sauber by 53secs

Hour 9
Revenge is sweet isn't it.
He was infront of me by a massive 54 secs now on lap 134 I am 54secs infront of him!
Wooo! :sly:
I think this Hour may be the most boring ever.
The Sauber finally got passed the Pescy :(
I'm still faster though
& I sill have the whole of the Mulsanne straight with no cars on while I'm on it.
It's like my own little part of the track!
Lap 138 I pit again.
I could do a 6 lap in the Mediums but to be honest its a waste of time & tire.
Lap 145 I'm in for another pit.

Ninth hour passes near the end of lap 150 in 1st, 1:05 in front of the Sauber

Hour 10
Lap 152 saw the first action of the 10th hour..
My pitstop.
Although there may be some overtaking in the next few hours!
I am almost only the Mulsanne Straight behind the Bentely =]
159 another pit stop.
I think I'm getting closer & closer to some excitement.

Tenth hour passes in the pits on lap 166-167 in 1st, 1:27 in front of the Sauber

Hour 11
Finally I get some excitement!
Lap 169 I get up behind the Bentley through Tetre Rouge get a nice slipstream down the straigh & Lap his ass throught L'Arche!!
Next up is the BMW I think!
But that wont be for a few more laps.
Lap 171 exactly the same as the Bentley but lapping the BMW instead :sly:
Yet again 173 I am in the pits for a rutine fill up!
I end up catching the Pescy & put that sucker 3 laps down =]
Lap 180 is another pitstop

Eleventh hour passes at the start of lap 184 in 1st, 1:42 in front of the Sauber

Nothing really happens from now on, except for me almost falling asleep about 20hours in!

Results..

1st Nissan Fairlady Z Concept '02 (me) = 24:01'26.473

5th Bentley Speed 8 '03 + ???
6th BMW V12 LMR '99 + ???

Sorry about not knowing the times the other cars were behind I didnt wait till they all finished.
I only know the Sauber was about that from the last checkpoint.
Also I am sorry that the second half of the race was uneventfull.
This was my first report so I will try another later =]
Maybe with a road car rather than a race car o.O

Yeah man, very cool! I'll eventually get to this race as well, i'm about to do Laguna SEca 200 miles in a few minutes actually. :)

Good report & +Rep :), though it's a shame it tailed off towards the end, and I'm not keen on the centered text layout! :(

What were the specs of your Fairlady? I'm presuming it wasn't stock if you were able to run with a Sauber?

Sorry if you didnt like the centered text & sorry for not replying sooner, Laptop died so I've had to buy a new one..
Errm all I did to my Fairlady was R1 & R2's & the lowest stage Turbo.
As you can guess the accelaration (I'm half asleep so cant tell if thats how you spell it) was a bit poor but top end speed was good.

WOW!

When I started reading this I thought you'd be way behind and give up.
That's what I did this morning, in a Toyota MINOLTA 88C-V Race Car.
