does anyone know how to de-restrict the top speed of a BMW M5? the cars top speed is limited to 155mph, but theres a track day on a near by circuit in 2 weeks and i want to see what the M5 can really do :D
any help would be appreciated

take off the governer. it the best thing to do, but the hard part is finding it.

Isn't the governer programmed into the engine management software in BMWs? I was under the impression it was actually a pretty big deal to disable it - to the point of virtually replacing the engine management system?

Ah no.

You go to any good tuning place and they just edit top speed out of the ECU. Is pretty easy, and not too pricy.

or you could rip the guts out of it and put an older motor in lol

And in the process you'd be ruining the world's baddest production sedan.

Oh, okay - I must be thinking of another vehicle.

Hey M5Power, wanna know the top speed of the M5?
Try to calculate in Miles Per Hour:
250 Kph

No, vat_man is right. Taking down the top speed barrier of an M5 is extremely difficult. No dealer could do it, that's for sure, although there may be skilled BMW mechanics who COULD do it.
