Dead PS3 - Cannot B-Spec anyone for a while

Hi all,
Tonight my PS3 gave up on me (80GB fatty). I believe that it is a hard drive failure. I backed up my GT5 save earlier today, but I don't have any other backup of my HDD, so I am not sure if I am SOL (hey- anyone have a link for restoring your GT5 account after a hard drive failure? I know there is one on GTPlanet - I just have to find it).

Anyway, I have been racing everyone's guys for the last week when I could, and you guys have been racing my guys. I just wanted to let you know that I am not bailing on B-Spec. I am just down some luck at the moment. Rack up each others' Bobs for me until I am back (honestly, though, remote is the least of my concerns - it is the A-Spec, collection, and licenses that have me worried). Plus the failure kept me from improving my WRS time.

Cheers

I moved from a fatty to a slim a couple of months ago. Fortunately the old one had not died, and I had the save game from it.

When I started the New PS3 I made sure I logged in with my PSN log in that was my main GT5 account. I installed GT5, quit to the xmb, copied my old save game onto the new PS3 and restarted the game. Everything was there apart from a few thumbnails in the garage. I hope this helps.

Sorry to her about your ps3 mate, hope to see you back online soon. Your bobs will be kept busy. ;)

After doing remote races yesterday I came home to find the red light flashing on my machine. That of course means a hardware failure and my machine is dead with a GT5 disc stuck inside.

Sorry to hear that spacecadetcc.

I have a fatty to so just waiting for the day it goes down. Hope to see you back on soon and at least you have the GT forums to come to.

Hey all my b-spec friends. My PS3 fatty is back up and running. I believe that the hard drive was on the way to failing - once the machine was warm, the hard drive just seemed to stop being recognized (the HDD would just do a loop cycle and the PS3 would never get to the user accounts). When the drive was cold it was okay. So I was able to back up to an external and then I took out the 80GB and replaced it with a 320GB drive. So far seems to be okay, so I am hoping this is the end of my problems!

Anyway - thanks to all who were racing my Bob's during that time. Looks like they were busy. I am going through the logs and ensuring that I return the favour to those that kept my Bobs busy. (I also gotta get back to WRS as my failure put me at the bottom of the boards for last week's WRS and I haven't even attempted this week's!)

Thanks guys

Happened to me before xmas and I hadn't been backing up to usb either. Was without my GT fix for the whole of the holiday. Had to 'socialise' (that's what they call it, apparently) instead.

I can't seem to remote race anymore. Its been 3 hours and it keeps telling me that my bob is currently in a race. I called my wife and she said that the tv screen was blank, so I told her to shut the ps3 down.
I hope my ps3 did not fry. It's a old 40gig fatty with an upgraded 320gig drive.
