Long time no see, I think some of you might still remember me 🤗. Oh boy time passes by and I realized I haven't been here since 2017!

I now have 2 teenage sons that are huge car enthusiasts!! I also happened to be one of the lucky to finally get a PS5 after only a year of waiting to get one 😅. And what a chance that we are getting a GT title in a few months 😜.

So many coincidences hehe.

Having kept the BMW leather seat that I had on the old cockpit, I believe it's a good chance not only to enjoy GT7 better but also to train my sons before they are are ready for their license!

I have absolutely no idea what happened in the sim industry after my g27... I sold that thing because of the dead zone. I remember TM had a good name because of it's good feeling and affordable prices.

I am not looking to get something very expensive, but low to mid range. But I do plan to get better pedals and shifter. What are my choices for the PS5?

Thank you for the help!

P.S. I dropped the Xbox/Forza combo because I hate it when I start with everything unlocked!!
Give me the struggle with the 60hp cars back 😎

Anything that's officially supported by PS4 is also supported by PS5.

At entry level there's the Logitech G923, which is very much an evolution of the G27 you remember. Comes with pretty much the same pedals, with potentiometer sensors, but with a progressive spring in the brake pedal. Still gear-driven FFB.

Just above that is the Thrustmaster T248, which is a hybrid gear/belt drive wheel. T3PM pedal set has nasty plastic arms still, but Hall effect sensors and you can upgrade to T-LCM which has nice metal arms and a load-cell brake.

All of the rest of the belt-drive Thrustmaster range is above that - T300 (with mince pedals again), T500 etc. - and you can also upgrade the pedals again. Then there's the official GT Sport wheel at the top, the T-GT. That's also just been updated to the T-GT II.

And coming in right now is the Fanatec GT DD Pro, which is god-tier direct drive with a decent pedal set (albeit only two; you can pick up an additional pedal or a load cell brake and move the existing brake to the clutch), and the official GT7 wheel.

That last option isn't cheap, and there are less expensive Fanatec wheels with PS4/5 compatibility, but you basically need to buy everything separately to build up a system you like. Be aware that wheel bases determine PS compatibility and wheel rims determine Xbox compatibility.

I was looking at getting a belt driven for best feeling. I suppose one of the TM ones with a TH8 shifter and TCLM pedals would make a great combo.

I have available in my country various versions of T300 and T150. Isn't T150 the same wheel base as T300 but with cheap pedals and rim?

Maybe it's worth getting the T150 cheapest version available and "dress" it with rim pedals and shifter?

No.
T150: Brushed motor with about 2Nm of torque, optical sensor with 12-bit resolution (i.e. 4,096 values on the wheel’s steering axis), mixed belt-pulley and gears system.
T300: Brushless motor wth about 4Nm of torque, hallEffect technology with 16-bit resolution, (i.e. 65,536 values on the steering), dual belt system.
