Deep Forest Raceway Car Lap Times

I was watching Top Gear and got the idea of making my own power lap board using Deep Forest Raceway (my favourite track). The cars were pretty much stock apart from having their oil changed (engine rebuild/chassis refurbishment if required) and with Sports Soft tyres. Here's the list of what i've lapped so far in order of fastest first:

NOTES
Viper ACR, unsuprisingly the fastest so far, super stable rear even with 600hp+. Z06 was VERY twitchy especially the hill bits where the rear loses traction and wheels spin. The zr1 was WAY more stable and it put the extra hp down well. The Murcielago was just MAD, so unpredictable !! hated it but still put down a very good time. GT-R as usual, devoured the corners and made up for the lack of power and high weight. M5 was very fast despite the huge weight, was very stable and consistently quick around low and high speed corners. The Camaro SS, my favourite car from the list. So stable and i'm pretty sure i was going around corners faster than the GT-R, WHAT A CAR ! and its WAY faster than the M3 which is kinda a rival in real life. I dont know how accurate Polyphony were with the handling of the Camaro but if it handles like this in real life, i want one NOW ! The RX-7 here was representing the lightweights here and it got very fast time despite less the 300hp, i mean with all the fat saloons cornering so fast and stable, its done well.

I´ve done exactly the same in the same track but wiht sports hard tyres, and the fastest so far is the Mclaren F1.
I´ll keep an eye here to see if you find a faster one.

I've run countless laps in the European Championship here - 5 laps against rather modest AI. I'll tally them up and post the numbers

The AI don't make that much of a difference and other than a standing start and an opening lap to warm up tyres my list could be interesting. I tended to test the basic car, with SH and SS tyres then repeat it with an Oil change... and maybe again with a chassis rebuild and a Engine overhaul. The only issue is my list is only European cars...

I think my fastest was the Cerbera Speed 12 which made the track seem very short on straights. It did eat the tyres though. Actually most of the cas I tested that were fast destroyed the tyres, The Emmpeefourdashtwelvecee and the Italia both had smokey rears.
ALL my times are from GT5 version 0.97 though... Hmm I can see me running a few more laps at DFR.

Got loads 5 and half pages of A4 paper - thats gulp 160 tests... at 5 laps per test... 800 laps of DFR.

Anyhow. here is one bit
All cars run no aids, Brake bias moved to 3/2 No TCS or ABS Original default suspension and bits. The track was never cut, only the inside wheel can touch a curb - the rest of the car was on track... No cutting crass or straight line over the concrete.

The Jag felt great, really nice and grippy and consistent.
The V12 Cerbera was a handful the car wheelspinning over crests and locking up into corners due to the amazing acceleration. Has alot more potential left in the lap to go much lower. Unfortunatly it lunched its tyres well before the end of the final lap.
TVR Griffith was much more gentle on the track and to its tyres.
I ran the XJ220 again and just trakc time since the first time I had ran it I had gained almost a whole second a on a hotlap

Thats good stuff, but the AI can either be a bother (hogging best driving line) or they can help you (slip stream). The difference between your laps and my laps, i did cut concrete corner past the first hill, but did so in all lap times so it makes it fair for comparison. No other corners were cut. No driver aids were used apart from abs set to 1.

i remember taking the Mclaren f1 before one time, and i remember it being VERY unforgiving but lightening fast.. i will take it out again so i can get a proper time out of it. I really have no doubt it will be the fastest though.

I used to doo the same but i stuck with the 6 group c cars (racing soft tires and individual setup each car) and run a full nurby lap on GT4
best time in R92CP 5:30 something may doo the same with GT5 either but this time I will be using the 24 Hrs layout without weather change when I get all 6 group C cars still missing 3 the R92, 787B and the Sauber

I foudn the AI didn't really help lap times, and a 5 lap race gives a good chance to get a good base lap time.

but the comparison is there...

If I do 5 seconds slower in a Spitfire relative to a Tuscan then it would be safe to think you would be 4/6 seconds slower than your own time. SO long as it is consistent... My times are ... 9 months old and old physics.

NOTES
Mclaren F1 as predicted was very twitchy, but lightening quick. Throttle response and torque just made the F1 fly out of corners even with the worst of driving lines (just as long as the exit involves as little steering angle as possible). The Ford was very good, very torquey and the arse was well planted throughout. The MP4-12C is RUBBISHH, crap turn-in, understeers then a tiny bit of throttle = oversteer. not recommended if your playing against a friend in the Arcade mode race. SLR was very nice. The arse was glued, but then again so was the front which means it understeered quite alot. There's not much to say about the S2000 apart from it was very good for the ammount of power and weight, great little car. The civic wasn't so good. It has no torque, whatsoever and its an FF so cornering isn't very good. People got all happy when they bought it as their first car with its 180hp and 1050 weight, but in truth, a used FR would have been better. Come to think of it, the MX5 will be next.

The Amuse S2000 is almost exactly identical to the Mclaren F1 only its WAY more controllable, thats where the whole second came from. The MiNe's Skyline was pretty nuts, it flew out of corners with 4WD, and corner entry was like a RWD car, none of the understeer or the crazy oversteer from the Lamborghini LP 640. The RE Amemiya 7, as i've always said, is absolutely the best cornering/handling street/tuner car in the game. The only bad thing i can say about it is the turbo. It runs out of puff at 6900rpm, but the engine revs all the way to 8200rpm, and since i had it in automatic, it only changes up when it hits the redline so i was off power for ALOT of the time attack, especially the uphill bit, it literally struggling to accelerate at 7500-8000rpm, then when it changes up at 8200, it just fliess, a BIG difference. i'm gunna take the Amemiya for another run but in manual this time.

the compound was sports soft for all of them.

This seems like a really good idea. But for the laptimes, were they rolling starts or standing starts. If they were rolling starts, then at what speed was the car moving before it crossed the start line? I think I would quite like to help with this.

I dunno but, i think its a good time, but didnt win the race, placed 2nd, the Toyota passed me on 4th lap DAMN!! on my friends house i managed to win the race with toyota boring me, but i passed on last turn and keep closing the door to win the race LOL!

This might be a bit of a long what for a reply, but I wanted to see what people got for times on this track. Frankly, it's one of my favorites, and I've been doing some racing with AI on GT6. Here's what I got to contribute.
Nissan GT-R GT500 Base Model (Stock) - 494hp - 1,100kg - Fastest lap: 1:12.731 - Total Race (5 laps): 6:19.316
This was done on Super GT500 Championship: Race 1 on Sports Soft tires.
Edit: Just realized that I forgot to give it an oil change, and this was a personal best for me.
