Desktop question.

Ok. Ive been switching desktops alot lately, and I was wondering If you could get rid of the background the icons have

Like this. Instead of the black background, have it go to this:

Blending with the background like so.
Any help would be apprecaited.

what OS do you have?

For Windows XP's - Right click on your desktop then > Arrange Icons by > Lock all items on desktop. Make sure that is NOT check marked on the left of it.

Another thing. With XP you can customize it for perfomance or looks. One of the options in the menu for this(Control Panel -> System -> Advanced Options -> Visual something, I don't use XP -> Find the Use drop shadows on desktop check box and...check it...

Perhaps someone on an XP machine could help me clearify with the correct names.

I think you have XP, but if you don't I have a great app that uses like 40k and takes away the boxes.

Here it is.

There are four different ones, each is the same size as the other and included in the .zip. One of them (transparent) makes the word the same color as it is now(that's the one I use), another (transparentB) makes the words black, another (transparentD) makes the words the same color as the desktop's background color, and the last (transparentW) makes the words white. I recommend putting it in the startup folder in the start menu and having a shortcut to it in the start menu. Some DX games etc will bring the block back, just click that shortcut.
