Hi
Yesterday I purchased a DFGT. For some time now I have been labouring away with the standard controller but being the kind of person who likes to get the most out of something by pushing to achieve the best rather than trying to improve myself through buying better equipment I had already achieved my S class licence and was very excited about seriously competing with the top names in time trials and racing daring even to hope I may get a top ten time. Well that dream was very quickly shattered.
Firstly I was dismayed to find I could not change the steering ratio to match the game. The 900 degree wheel is a nice touch particularly if you a racing in a car that uses (please correct me if I am wrong here) a 1:3 ratio but when you are using a more pro car I believe they use a 1:1 ratio. My times round Eiger are far quicker with the controller as I stood no chance of getting round the corners quick having to revert to a road style hold on the wheel as opposed to a race style.
Now ok that may be just a niggle and maybe someone knows how to sort this but it just got worse. for some reason my car was slow until I realised that the brake was being held on slightly. If I pulled it up it let go but unaided it was always on. At this point I realised it had a fault and had to continue with a bit of foam under it to just hold it off a bit realising I would need to return it for repair or replacement. then just to cap it off the left retainer snapped off when I was driving possibly making me the first person to suffer a real injury in a virtual race.
I have no decided to get my money back and just to add insult to injury I have now found I could have got a G25 for just a little more on clearance but they have all now sold out where ever I look.
As a footnote to this I will admit I didn't check out the wheels on the market properly and looking round this forum it would appear that the brake pedal problem at least is a known issue and had I read more I probably would have searched for a G25 (can't afford a G27 unfortunately) in the first place. I hope at least I prevent others from suffering the same disappointment as I did.
Cheers Gary
P.S. I have suggested a hardware forum title to list all the info on wheels, pedals, cockpits shifters and the like.
