DFGT paddles - your thoughts?

Hi guys,

Gonna go pick up a wheel when I pre-order tomorrow, and I'm nearly decided on the DFGT but the big question mark is the paddles.

I'd like to know, if any of you have it, seriously what do you think to them? Are they a deal breaker? I'm thinking:

DFGT:

+ sequential shifter, strong force, adjuster nob
- paddles, cheap build quality?

GT25 / GT27

+ good paddles
- no adjuster nob, H-box

I'm really all about the shifting. So, what do you think to them? Thanks!

I've had both the DFGT & G27. To answer your question, it really depends on if you're an H-pattern traditional type of shifter or a paddle shifting mofo like me. My last 2 sports cars have had paddle shifters & while you don't physically get to shift, my lap times on real life tracks are much quicker due to less time physically shifting & more time concentrating on the next apex/turn.

Anyway, so if you much prefer physically shifting, I'd save up a little longer & eventually get a G27. However, if you're like me & won't ever (or rarely) want to physically shift, I'd say go for the DFGT to save $$$. Only thing really negative I can say that kinda bothers me about the DFGT is that the paddle shifters are actually tiny buttons on the back. But I'm sure you can mod it to attach paddle shifters one way or another (look on Audi & BMW forums to see if anybody wants to sell their original paddle shifters for dirt cheap since many of those guys replace w/bigger aftermarket paddles). Here are my pro's & con's of each:

DFGT:
+ half price of G27, 24-way real-time in game custom adjustment dial for GT5, less bulky
- paddle shifters are tiny buttons, rubber wheel, FF isn't as strong as a G27 since it only has 1 motor, no clutch pedal, plastic pedals

G27:
+ Awesome paddle shifters, real leather wheel, somewhat stronger FF due to 2 motors, billet-aluminum pedals, clutch pedal, actual H-pattern shifter
- Twice price of DFGT, bulkier w/more wires, un-necessary if you don't use the H-pattern shifter often

So ya, in the end it's really personal preference. I just sold my G27 & Playseat Evo setup a month ago & I'm kinda missing having a steering wheel especially since NFS: Hot Pursuit & GT5's coming out within the next 2 weeks. If I were to do it again, I'd get a DFGT & an Obutto...must resist!

Hope that helps!
