i had the same problem long ago. i found out when i unscrewed and opened the pedal box, that the small potentiometers for the throttle and brake were just floating, which was unbelievable! what i did was, with the gt4 game playing and the car running on a straight track like the test track, i moved the potentiometer to see the full range of motion. you will notice that since the pots are just floating, it has the tendency to twist side to side/ up and down, which mis-aligns the pots and creates the anomalous ghost brakes and partial throttle. you can fix the problem by just pausing the game and reinsert the usb plug of the DFP wheel to recalibrate the wheel and the pedals, but after some time it comes backs again..and again..and again..and again...until it blows your fuse and declare that DFP sucks, or you can just look for something that can hug the small potentiometer (like a plastic case of an R/C rx crystal) then hot glue-gun them together for extra hold, then hot glue-gun the RX cystal plastic case or whatever you have to the plastic case of the pedal (dont forget to align to zero brake/throttle) so that when you press the pedals along its full range of motion you wont see the body of the potentiometer move at all. just apply a generous amount of hot glue so that the pots are totally secured and wont come off. Problem fixed.
