DFP paddle up-shift malfunction

Just wondering what I can do about this problem.

The up-shift paddle on my DFP intermittently shifts 2 gears at a time, which as you can imagine is very annoying.

Not sure what could be causing it. Had the DFP for about 6-8 months.

Wondering whether to take the thing apart, or contact Logitech.

Any advice/ideas please?

yeah its a problem with the upshift paddle. i have two DFPs and one of them has the same problem. when you press the paddle it presses down onto a button. if there is a gap between the button and the paddle then it will register as being pressed more than once. So i guess you just need to find some way to close the gap between the button and the paddle.

I replaced the faulty switches in my DFP... I couldn't be arsed to return it, and since someone once told what end to grab on a solder iron, I decided to give it a shot.. If you've ever soldered anything remotely looking like a component on a PCB, you should be fine - And the switches are std. sized, so take the one you've removed to your local electronics pusher and he should have them.

Only thing is, you'll loose the aluminium GT sticker on the front though - It's glued to the wheel and covers four screws you'll need to remove...

Didn't fancy taking the DFP apart (well not the wheel anyway, already done the pedal fix just fine!).

Called up Logitech Europe. Explained the situation. "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" "Yes I have, thanks, that didn't work"
"Ok what's the serial number etc off the back"
Gave the guy the info, and he's sending me a new wheel, no questions asked.
Bought it online, so didn't have a receipt, couldn't even remember who I'd bought it off!
Some of the best customer service I have ever had, so thanks to Logitech Europe!!!

Strangely, he asked me to cut off the usb connector from the old wheel (to render it inoperable?) and send it to an address in switzerland, once the new wheel has arrived.

[Edit] New DFP arrived by DHL within 3 days, so now have a new wheel, plus a spare set of pedals.

I cannot fault Logitech Europe's Customer Service. Superb!

So does anyone have a good fix for this? I'm having the same problem except mine seems to be even more intermittent. Sometimes it will shift 2 or more gears at a time, sometimes it won't shift at all. This is annoying because one: I can't drive Formula One cars unless I use the stick, which isn't realistic and also wastes time, and two: I have to open up the wheel and physically move the lever everytime I want to switch between 200 and 900 degree modes, which I have to do everytime I start up a game since the DFP has to go through its self test. I've considered buying another DFP in hopes that someone elses will be less broke than mine or maybe even a G25, but I don't want to shell out the money for either one. I finally got a pretty good fix for the pedals (even though its not a 100% sure fire fix), so if I could get this problem fixed my wheel would be in pretty good shape.

maybe buy the new vesion of the wheel...the dfgt!!

my old dfp also had problems with shifters /ffb kept failing mid corner/brake padle whas 50% softer than in beginning etc etc etc....
so after fixing it 3 times i thought enough!!!
so now i bought the new dfgt wheel online for the same money i bought my dfp 3 years ago....money well spent!!!

spyrrari.

After all of the problems I and countless others have had with their products, I refuse to buy any more Logitech steering wheels unless I got an absolutely incredible deal on one.

I finally mustered up the energy to go to my local Radio Shack and buy a replacement switch for the right shift paddle. Surprisingly enough, they don't even sell it. I'm left scratching my head. Anyone have any ideas about any other popular electronics store outlets that would sell this type of switch?
