DFP problem or I did it wrong?

Hello everybody! I think I need your help...
I own a PS2 SCPH-70004 and I bought the DFP + GT4 last week. I plugged everything and nothing happens...!!! No leds, no movement, no signal of life...
I returned to vendor and he plugged the DFP in a PC usb port (there wasn't PS2 available at the momment). After 2 seconds, green lights on and wheel calibrates itself...
They say the problem is with PS2.
Do you agree? I have no PS2 acessories to test usb ports. What must I do?

Did you try both ports ?... My DFP only works in the bottom port - and it doesn't do anything until GT4 starts to load....

Mine works fine in the top usb port. I haven't tried the lower one. AS Flerbizky says, nothing happens until GT4 starts to load and the game looks for the DFP.

I tried both left and right (I use a slim PS2) and nothing.
Is it necessary to star the game to DFP be recognized by the console?
