ok well i was drifting with the ds2 and got bored so i decided to switch on back to the dfp and practice drifting with it. i wanted to switch back to the ds2 to test out some new settings against the dfp. as far as i know, if the dfp is plugged in you can't use the ds2 to steer (the d pad and analog doesn't work; only the buttons do). so i thought maybe if i disconnect the power cord from the dfp it will turn the dfp off and i'll be able to steer with the ds2. i guess that didn't turn the dfp off (the lights was still on and i was still able to move the car, gas and brake and everything else; i guess power is still coming from the usb connected to the ps2). the thing here is that the force feed motor was not on. i could move the steering wheel so easy. i was wondering if that could damage the dfp. has anyone ever had any problems driving without the power on the dfp??

When I feel like fooling around and drifting in GT4 I pull the powercord out so I can spin the wheel quickly, I havent heard of anyone having problems from doing that.
