DFP Won't work on GT4

Hello, I have recently joined the forums, but have spent a couple hours searching for my problem, alas to no avail. Today, I purchased the DFP I plugged everything in correctly and began to drool at all possibilites with GT4. I started the game, and the wheel calibrated itself while the opening movie was playing, I tried pressing start and got zero feed back. I tried a little bit of everything, navigating with my PS2 Controller to see if I can turn the wheel on (which I didn't think needed to be done in the first place.) I looked around in the 1p Steering and 1p DFP everything looked fine in the Steering, but I looked at the top of the DFP under "Steering:" and then it's blank and not accessable.

I have tried both USB ports on the PS2, they both calibrate but with no response from the game other than calibrating itself. I was very frustrated and didn't dare want to call tech support. So, I placed GT3 A Spec in and for some reason the right light on the steering wheel dimmed, and then it came to life, with all controls functioning. I could navigate everywhere and actually use the wheel. Thinking this had fixed my problems, I loaded GT4 again, and it calibrated itself and then I couldn't use it at all, I had to again navigate with my PS2 Controller. I'm out of Ideas, and of course by the time I tried everything tech support was not available.
Thanks for reading my story. lol.

I havn't heard of this problem. Try taking your wheel back and get it replaced with another. If that doesn't work, it might just be your disk. Not really sure.

Sorry to hear,

Im pretty sure I heard of this problem quite awhile ago and the wheel was faulty and needed replacing.

Seems as though the wheel isnt functioning properly in 900 degree mode, since it seems to work well enough in the 200 degree mode. Call tech support and tell them off... or be nice about it - whichever works for you!

No, I'm not sure what a DS2 is >_<. I might have to take it back, but I got it at Game Stop and it was the last one, good thing I believe I can take it back at any Game Stop, so I'll take it back to the one in the mall. It's very odd, I can play GT3 perfectly, but when I can play it, it dims the second light. When I try and play in GT4 it calibrates and then it has both lights lit up with zero response. I do believe I got the old model, because the box does look somewhat aged (right when they first came out I asume.) so, I'm sure swapping it with a new one would be more then helpful. Thanks for the feed back guys.

DS2 = dual shock 2. i.e. the standard controller
when the right light dims, the wheel is in 200 degree mode.
when the right light is on, the wheel is in 900 degree mode.

just clearing some confusion.... be sure to tell us how it goes with the new wheel.

One possible option to try is:

* After the game has loaded, unplug the DFP and then plug it back in..I'm referring to the USB plug of course.

If this doesn't work and you have any one of these other games here (of which all support 900 degree) see if you experience the same issue....If so, then it could be an issue w/the 900 degrees of rotation (seeing as the wheel 'works' w/in GT3) and you should take it back if that's the case!

ive got the same problem :( the left light is flashing, the right light is on full, and i get no input from it at all......

same here, I bought mine off ebay when it first came out, and it only worked about 10 times with gt4 before becoming a doorstop. A doorstop that nets me nice times in GTR and R-factor however since it works perfectly on my PC, but it won`t communicate with my PS2 in 900 degree mode either, on the other hand, i haven`t tried disabling the mode either... anyway, i think this is my first post, so hi all
